BS PSYCH-1

Former President Ferdinand Marcos lasted his office for

more than twenty years and during his time the Philippines
experienced a lot of problems. He was selfish and a corrupt
man in his time. He was called as a dictator by the people
during the time he ruled as a president in our country. He
made the people believe in his promises which he never
fulfilled. He does all things only by writings but not in works.
When the people already knew his personal interest in
politics, people we’re starting to protest against him. Inspite
of all the protest, former president Ferdinand Marcos used
his money and power to overpower all the protest. Marcos ran
for the second time as President and he makes sure that the
result of the election is he remains the president. The second
term as president made him more abusive and popular in
terms of his money and power and thus, corruption is very
rampant in the government. Many people we’re suffering
from powerty and cruelty. Again, there we’re more protest
because of they don’t understand the Marcos government
which lead the poor to suffer more and more, and the rich
becomes richer and richer. When Marcos knew that there
we’re already a lot of people protesting his government he
ordered the Martial Law to protect his own interest and
government. Under the Martial Law time he arrested all the
people who we’re against him. Like how he raid squatters
area just because he believes it’s where bad people lives or
hides. During the Martial Law years a lot of innocent people
we’re arrested and killed. During also this time the New
People’s Army or also known as NPA organization was born.

For me, the former President Ferdinand E. Marcos as

called dictator was really meant for him because of what he
has done to our country. He only cares about his personal
interest ad what he wants for himself and family. He never
cared about what people will say or do or what will happen to
his people. As a leader, you should be a good model to your
people and always looking up on your people’s welfare. As a
leader, you should be a great role model of peace and
harmony. Always have a helping hand to all the people who
are in need of your help. The Marcos Regime most of the time
did not show this kind of a leader. A good government should
have a good leader. The widespread of human rights of many
innocent people is not a good government. If during the
Marcos Regime a lot of protest arose and It’s not a suprise for
me because I know everybody is used to it. A good leader
should impose and abide the law. But then I see a lot of people
complaining because almost all of his programs under the law
was not fulfilled like the Land Reform Program and other
programs. Palakasan System during the Marcos Regime
benefits most of his rich friends in his government that
results to corrupting the wealth of the Filipino people and I
want to say that it’s the very main reason why the people of
the Philippines is suffering from poverty until now. I also
observed that a lot of injustices happened in his time. Like
how innocent people died during The Martial Law years. Until
now a lot of NPA did not surrendered because they still notice
the injustices of the Marcos regime. He never let anyone
replace him. So he stayed as the president for more than
twenty years and let his people suffer for more than twenty
years. Since he ruled our government for a long time that the
freedom of media and even individuals cannot speak for the
truth and it should not be because freedom of speech is very
important for us to grow, especially our country. I find him
very abusive of his power as a president. I agreed that former
president Marcos should not be buried in the “Libingan ng
mga Bayani” because he never was a not a hero but rather a
burden to most Filipino people. He made a crime that people
will never forget. A crime that will be forever in our history.
Even in our politics today there a lot of politicians like Marcos.

A good government should be for the people

especially to the poor. The poor should have equal rights to
the rich. The Marcos regime made the rich people look more
powerful. Whatever is our status in life, poor or rich, we
should have equal rights in the law so that there will be no
injustices, abusiveness, cruelty, and that poverty will be
resolved. A monopoly of ones position for a long period of
time is not good because we should give others a chance so
that equality will prevail. The Marcos Regime should be a
lesson to everybody. We people should be vigilant to our
rights and watchful to the people serving our country. Never
step on ones rights and previleges weather you are rich or
poor because we are all equal and we all deserve to live
peacefully. Indeed we should have fear in God.
