General Pathology

5 types of general pathology:

1. Dystrophy/ Necrosis:
a. Dystrophy: abnormal number of metabolites in cell
b. Necrosis: nucleus absent
2. Blood circulation:
a. Hyperemia: blood artery bigger than normal
b. anemia: blood artery smaller than normal
3. Compensative/ decompensate
a. Hypertrophy: increase in size of cell to adapt to new requirements
4. Inflammation: two main features are edema and infiltration with leukocytes
5. Tumor: hyperplastic i.e. uncontrollable growth
a. Malignant/ benign: both benign and malignant tumors are of epithelioid origin. In
malignant tumor there is a change in the cell while in benign the cell normal
b. Sarcoma: is of mesenchyme origin i.e. connective tissue
