Bad Beginning, Good Ending

2 Samuel 6, 2 Chronicles 5

1. Lesson 1
a. But when they came to the threshing floor of Nacon, Uzzah reached out toward the ark
of God and took hold of it, for the oxen nearly upset it. And the anger of the LORD
burned against Uzzah, and God struck him down there for his irreverence; and he died
there by the ark of God. (2Sa 6:6-7 NAS)
b. Follow the Rules
2. Lesson 2
a. And David became angry because of the LORD's outburst against Uzzah, and that place
is called Perez-uzzah to this day. So David was afraid of the LORD that day; and he said,
"How can the ark of the LORD come to me?" And David was unwilling to move the ark of
the LORD into the city of David with him;
b. but David took it aside to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite. Thus the ark of the LORD
remained in the house of Obed-edom the Gittite three months, and the LORD blessed
Obed-edom and all his household. (2Sa 6:8-11 NAS)
c. Don’t get ahead of the Lord
3. Lesson 3
a. And David was dancing before the LORD with all his might, and David was wearing a
linen ephod. (2Sa 6:14 NAS)
b. Do what you do with Passion
4. Lesson 4
a. Then it happened as the ark of the LORD came into the city of David that Michal the
daughter of Saul looked out of the window and saw King David leaping and dancing
before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart. (2Sa 6:16 NAS)
b. Not everyone, even close people, will be with you.
5. Lesson 5
a. Then Solomon assembled to Jerusalem the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes,
the leaders of the fathers' households of the sons of Israel, to bring up the ark of the
covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is Zion. (2Ch 5:2 NAS)
b. So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who
causes the growth. Now he who plants and he who waters are one; but each will receive
his own reward according to his own labor. For we are God's fellow workers; you are
God's field, God's building. (1Co 3:6-9 NAS)
c. What you start, someone else might finish.
6. Lesson 6
a. Thus all the work that Solomon performed for the house of the LORD was finished. And
Solomon brought in the things that David his father had dedicated, even the silver and
the gold and all the utensils, and put them in the treasuries of the house of God.
(2Ch 5:1 NAS)

b. Then the priests brought the ark of the covenant of the LORD to its place, into the inner
sanctuary of the house, to the holy of holies, under the wings of the cherubim.
(2Ch 5:7 NAS)
c. A beautiful building doesn’t guarantee God’s presence.
7. Lesson 7
a. There was nothing in the ark except the two tablets which Moses put there at Horeb,
where the LORD made a covenant with the sons of Israel, when they came out of Egypt.
(2Ch 5:10 NAS)
b. Don’t complicate things.
8. Lesson 8
a. And when the priests came forth from the holy place (for all the priests who were
present had sanctified themselves, without regard to divisions), (2Ch 5:11 NAS)
b. Maintain Unity!!!
9. Lesson 9
a. and all the Levitical singers, Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun, and their sons and kinsmen,
clothed in fine linen, with cymbals, harps, and lyres, standing east of the altar, and with
them one hundred and twenty priests blowing trumpets in unison when the trumpeters
and the singers
b. were to make themselves heard with one voice to praise and to glorify the LORD, and
when they lifted up their voice accompanied by trumpets and cymbals and instruments
of music, and when they praised the LORD saying
c. "He indeed is good for His lovingkindness is everlasting," then the house, the house of
the LORD, was filled with a cloud, (2Ch 5:12-13 NAS)
d. Celebrate with lots of singing.
10. Lesson 10
a. so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the
LORD filled the house of God. (2Ch 5:14 NAS)
b. Remember, it’s all about God, not us.
