Abstract: The Application of Scientific Approach by Concrete Media in Increasing

the Result of Mathematics Learning about Planes for Class V Students SD Negeri
2 Karangsari in 2016/2017 school year. The objective of this Collaborative
Classroom Action Research is to increase the Mathematics learning result for fifth
grade students of elementary school in the number of 24 students. This research is
conducted in three cycles which consist the steps of planning, implementation,
observation, and reflection. The data accumulation technique is done by
committing techniques of test, observation, interview, and documentation. The
data validity in this research uses the techniques of source triangulation, technique
triangulation, and content validity. The result of this research indicates that the
application of scientific research by concrete media can increase the Mathematic
learning result about planes for the fifth grade students of elementary school. On
the cycle I, the result of students learning accomplishment attains 79,17%, then
becomes 90,48% on cycle II, and becomes 95,65% on cycle III.

The objectives of this collaborative classroom action research are: (1) to describe
the application of scientific approach by concrete media, (2) to increase the
Mathematics learning result about planes through the application of scientific
approach by concrete media, and (3) to describe problem and solution of the
application of scientific approach by concrete media in increasing Mathematics
learning result about planes for the fifth grade students.
This research is conducted in three cycles. Each cycle consists of two meetings
and is conducted through four stages, i.e. planning, implementation, observation,
and reflection. This research subject are the students of fifth grade SD Negeri 2
Karangsari in the number of 24 students, consisting of 13 male students, and 11
female students. The data resource comes from students, teachers, and documents.
The data accumulation is committed by techniques of observation, interview,
documentation, and test. The data validity uses resource triangulation, technique
triangulation, and content validity. The quantitative and qualitative analysis are
committed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion
withdrawal.
The research result indicates that the application of scientific approach by precise
concrete media can increase the Mathematics learning result about planes for the
fifth grade students SD Negeri 2 Karangsari in 2016/2017 school year, i.e. cycle I
by accomplishment of students learning result attains 79,17%, then increases to be
90,48% on cycle II, and becomes 95,65% on cycle III.
This research conclusion are: (1) the application of scientific approach by concrete
media is committed through five steps, i.e. (a) to observe by concrete media tool,
(b) to ask by concrete media tool, (c) to try by concrete media tool, (d) to think by
concrete media tool, and (e) to communicate by concrete media tool, (2) the
application of scientific approach by concrete media can increase Mathematics
learning result, and (3) the solutions are given to this research are: (a) the teacher
invites and directs the students in order to pay more attention to the concrete
media and teacher’s explanation, (b) the teacher gives many opportunities to the
students to ask and motivates more to the students in order to be able, brave, and
confident to ask, and (c) the teacher needs to repay attention on the time allocation
based on RPP so that the study is finished on time.
