BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY:

Every Monday, the assembly is conducted using English. The students involved are
prefects on duty. The whole event is carried out using English. The activity has been
carried out since last year. The texts are prepared by the teachers in charge of the Prefect
Board, with great assistance from English teachers.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY:

Everyday, during recess, a song is played using the the school P.A system. The
song can be heard throughout the whole school. The lyrics are given to the students at the
beginning of the week every time a new song is introduced. Every time there is a new
song, students get to practice singing together during the daily 10 minutes assembly. The
songs are changed every two weeks.
The students are open to singing the song during recess before or after they are
done eating. The objectives of this programme are as follows:

• to expose the students to a wider range of vocabulary

• to enable the students to learn about pronunciation while listening to the song and
singing.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY:

The space is a long hallway going down a flight of stairs. Information and notes on
grammar items are posted along the hallway. It is a hallways that students use every day
when coming to school or going up to the science laboratory and computer lab. With that,
the level of exposure to the information trying to be delivered is high. The information
presented starts from basic things such as verb to be, verb to do and verb to have. Then,
more verbs are introduced. The verbs being put up vary. At the end of the tunnel, the
students are directed to the Language Hut which is situated on the left side of the tunnel.
At the Language Hut, they can apply the information that they have or are supposed to
gain while going down the Grammar Tunnel.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY:

The Language Hut is a place where the students usually sit before they go into their
classes. At the Language Hut, there are two racks. On the racks, the students are to
rearrange words (subjects, verbs etc) to build up sentences. The words are colour coded
according to their groups. The students are exposed to related information at the Grammar
Tunnel. They are hoped to be able to correlate the two and produce grammatical
sentences. The words or phrases are added from time to time.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY:

The words listed here will be changed daily. Students are to write it down in their
books. Teachers will check on the supposed list of words once a week. The ‘A Word A
Day’ section is a part of the HIP Board.
At the same time, during the English Week, the activity is considered as one of the
competitions. Students taking part will have to copy down the words and build up
sentences using the words.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY:

The briefing was for all of the students, teachers and staffs. It was to help them
remember once again on what HIP aims to be and also a brief over view about it. During
the session, Teacher Adlina presented information using a power point presentation. After
that, a few activities were carried out for the students. One was a singing session and
another was a reflection session, with the students stating their hopes when being involved
with HIP. Their hopes were submitted to Teacher Adlina. Their hopes (which were written
on small pieces of papers) will be kept and will be shown back to them at the end of the
year. At that time, they are to do another reflection, seeing how far and how much HIP has
changed their life (in terms of their English).

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY:

The school carried out a programme involving parents from around the school area
and also afar. The English panel used the opportunity to give out pamphlets to the parents.
The pamphlets contain simple and very brief information about the Highly Immersive
Programme (HIP) and the activities that the school wishes to carry out.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY:

The school carried out an event of officiating the Anti Cigarette and Drug Week,
school level, for the year 2018. The event was carried out using English. The highlight was
during the recitation of oath where the students did really well. The event was carried out
in English not only to make it beneficial to the students (more exposure to the language)
but also to show to outside institutions how well they are with the language.

The Hi-Tea event was for a teacher who had just transferred to another school. The
event was carried out using English to give teachers the chance to polish up their skills in
English and also for them to build more confidence in using the language.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY:

Each class had to send three representatives to take part in the competition. The
participants were given words by the teacher in charge and they had to spell the words
correctly. At the end of the competition, two students were announced as the winners and
will be getting prizes during the closing ceremony. To note, the teacher in charge of the
competition is a Mathematics teacher, who handled it in English all the way!
