Note: 0c
1. Scenario 1.1- Loading of Heavy Naphtha to Berth 9 at tank minimum liquid level.
2. Scenario 1.2- Loading of Heavy Naphtha to Berth 9 at tank maximum liquid level
3.As the Heavy Naphtha Shipping Pump 24G-103 A/B Differential head is over designed for pumping to EPPCO Valve station and for future Provision, the pump will
deliver very high flow rate due to less back pressure during loading to Berth 9. Hence during such conditions, Isolation valve (24-HV-052) located at the immediate
pump discharge shall be throttled manually to increase the system back pressure to limit the flow rate to the maximum flow rate of the pump and to avoid the
pump running beyond the curve, thus protecting the pump / motor from overloading.
4.Even if the shipping pump run at lowest speed, still the pump discharge valve need to be throttled to create back pressure to keep the pump running within the
recommended operating range of the pump curve, as the back pressure required is very less and the pump curve is beyond the system curve even at the lowest
speed.
5.Restriction Orifice is provided in the Heavy Naphtha Shipping Pump discharge line to limit the maximum flow rate to 2400 m3/hr to ensure that the actual surge
pressure is less than the maximum allowable surge pressure as per surge analysis.Refer to Doc No: ESR0055024RPT1106-Surge Analysis Report for Heavy Naphtha
Shipping Line.

2 FORMULA SUMMARY

2.1 Velocity ' V ' in (m/sec) V = Q*4

3600 * π * (D/1000)^2

Q - Flow thru section in (m3/hr)

D - Pipe ID in (mm)

2.2 Reynolds Number ' NRe ' NRe = (D/1000) * V * r * 1000

(m / 1000)

r - Fluid specific gravity

m - Fluid viscosity @ PT in (cP)

2.3 Darcy Friction Factor ' f '

For NRe <= 2100 f = 64 / NRe Laminar Flow

For NRe > 4000 f= 0.25 Turbulent Flow (Swamee-Jain Equation)

{ log [ (e/(3.7*D)) + (5.74/NRe0.9 )] }2

For 2100 < NRe <= 4000 (Transition flow), turbulent flow equation is used, which is the worst case.

2.4 Pressure drop thru section in (m.liq) H# = f * L * V^2

2* (D/1000) * 9.81

L - Pipe equivalent length in (m)

e - Absolute Roughness of pipe wall in (mm)
