The theory of Bloom’s taxonomy
for cognitive domain
-arranged from the lowest level
to the highest level:
• (1) Knowledge:
In this stage, the students receive new information and
they tried to understand the basic concepts and principles
of the content they have watched.

• (2) Comprehension:
The students try to demonstrate their understanding,
interpret the information and summarize what they have
learned.

• (3) Application:
The students practice what they have learned or apply
knowledge to the actual situation.

• (4) Analyze:
The students try to solve problem and solution. To emphasize, the
students use their critical thinking in solving the problem, debate
with friends, compare the answer with peers and produce a
summary.

• (5) Synthesis:
The students obtain new knowledge and ideas after implementing
critical thinking or a debate in group activities. In this level of
learning, the students also produce creative thinking.

• (6) Evaluate:
assessment or established peer-review knowledge, judge in
relational terms; in this stage, students are evaluating the whole
learning concepts and they could evaluate or make judgment on
how far they successfully learned
REVISED BLOOM
TAXONOMY
• In 2000, Anderson, Krathwohl, Airasian,
Cruikshank, Mayer, Pintrich, Raths,
Wittrock.

• change the names in the six categories

from noun to verb forms.
• rearrange them as shown in next slide
• create a processes & levels of knowledge
matrix
Why REVISED?????
WHY revised????

• taking into consideration the current

developments in the educational and
psychological literature where students
are more knowledgeable, takes charge of
their own learning & higher order thinking
skills……….

…………the Revised Taxonomy

was developed.
BLOOMS DIGITAL
TAXONOMY
• This updated version aims to expand
upon the skills associated with each level
as technology becomes essential part of
learning.

ACTIVITY
TEST YOUR UNDERSTANDING

1) Elaborate what is the similarities and differences between

original bloom taxonomy, blooms revised taxonomy and blooms
digital taxonomy?

2) As teachers, we ask questions to our learners everyday. Not all

questions are on the same level. Some questions are easy to
answer where other questions may require a great deal of thinking.
Each taxonomy level has a short description, a lists of keywords
that can be used to begin a question, and question starters.

Prepare a table consisting of 10 Keywords, 10 Questions and 5

Assessment/Activities for the Bloom Digital Taxonomy based on
your area of specialization. (refer to example)
