The main obstacle that stands in front of IT's success and the internet is the fact that people
have not fully adapted to the usage of technology or they have not fully accept it and integrate it
in their culture.
As a consequence, only 10% of all the problems that occurred because of IT implementation are
of technical issues and the rest are because of human or organization nature: passive or active
resistance, misunderstandings etc. (Griffith, Northcraft, 1996, Martinko, Henry, Zmud, 1996).
Because of this, the employees, which represent the most important asset in an organization,
must actively participate to the development of the organization and must implicate themselves
in the implementation of the information system by taking into account the personal and
organizational needs.
The young generation by using the Internet too much has started to loose the ability of
face to face speech which in turn has lead to a diminishing ability of being convincing when they
have to express their own opinions and ideas. Also, young people have the tendency of using
sms or other means of getting the message through faster than having a face to face
conversation. It is easier to remain 'anonymous' and avoid direct social interaction.
Unfortunately, all this leads to a reduction of vocabulary, social isolation and even depression.
Another inconvenience is the fact that some valuable goods like books, movies, songs
etc., may be stolen, and the author's rights be violated because they can be easily be copied and
shared.
Running programs, that can worth billions of Euros, are illegally copied all over the
world thus intellectual property being violated.
IT usage has also made possible the replacement of old fashioned bank robberies with
guns and masks with banker hold-up done from a safe distance with the help of a keyboard and
the possibility of cracking codes, firewalls and security codes. This is the dark side of Internet,
when its resources are used for committing all sorts of crimes.
With the help of the Internet, against legal regulations, materials and other information
can be distributed that can cause serious problems to certain individuals or organizations. In this
category, there are obscene materials that are not password protected, information regarding the
fabrication and usage of explosive materials, articles that promote hate regarding race, religion
etc.
Conclusion
Even if they are pro and against opinions regarding modern technology, it represents an
important instrument when it comes to obtaining economical and production growth in order to
satisfy the demand of international markets.
