Freedom of speech in Thailand
There are many countries that just started to have freedom of speech and that
includes Thailand. In 1997, the constitution guaranteed to have freedom of speech and is
continued in 2007. The freedom of speech is the right of people to speak, and this is also
called “freedom of expression” which is a human right.
Freedom of speech is a human right to express the opinion and speak to change in
the society. It is important to us because it used to fight for changing something. Free
speech is a right and lesson to survive or protest other views from Timms J. From

article of Universal Declaration of Human Right or UDHR. Firstly, the Civil Rights are a right
to have life, do not harm or kill other people, and have equality with others. Secondly,
Political Rights are rights to have communicate with government for public benefit, the rights
to have democracy. Thirdly, Social Rights are rights for education and health. Next,
Economic Rights are rights to work, to choose job, and to get the salary. Finally, Cultural
Rights are the freedom to speak different language. In thailand, according to the Freedom
House said that Thailand have no freedom. In 2014, military junta suddenly ruled Thailand to
stop the corruption of politicians. The military junta suddenly ruled Thailand to remake the
political system to investigate the unchecked power, to limit the power temporary and to
punish and dismiss the protest. Since the military government controlled Thailand, it began
to afraid of free speech. The leader led by Prayuth Chan-ocha is controlled the public
debate.
It is more than two years that military controlled in Thailand. The ranked of worldwide
Press Freedom index of Thailand is falling down to 140 of 167 countries in 2018 according to
