FD FAN # A / B START UP :

i. Preparation for start-up


Line up of the FD Fan A Auxiliaries (Lube Oil Pump):
1. Check the Oil tank level at local gauge glass is adequate.
2. Check there is no alarm of “Oil tank level low (HLB11CL107)” in DAS/ CRT (set at 
50%).
3. Check for either of the two Lube oil cooler is in service (DM cooling water inlet and outlet
isolating valves are
open).
4. Check, the alarm ‘FDF-A DP across Lub oil Filter high > 0.6 ata. (HLB11CP101)’ is not
appearing in DAS/ CRT and CWD01 alarm
facia.
5. Check whether, the 415V supply to Lub oil pumps are
healthy.
6. Check whether, all the MCC modules are in Service (A &
B).
7. Lockout switches for all the pump motors are normal (released condition) and have been
selected for remote
operation.
8. Put the Lube oil pump A & B in ‘MAN’
mode.
9. Check the OFF feedbacks of Lube oil pump A & B in DAS/ CRT & unit control panel
(CWD).
10. Ensure that the alarm ‘FDF-A Lub oil pressure low < 0.4 ata’ is not appearing in DAS/ CRT
and CWD01 alarm
facia.
11. Start the Lube oil pump A (HLB11AP001) either from CRT or from UCP
(CWD).
12. Check the discharge pressure locally
(HLB11CP106).
13. Check the ON Feedback in the CRT monitor and in
CWD.
14. Stop Lube oil pump A either from CRT or from UCP
(CWD).
15. Check the discharge pressure locally
(HLB11CP106).
16. Check Lube oil pump B should not
start.
17. Check the OFF Feedback in the CRT monitor and in
CWD.
18. Start the Lube oil pump B (HLB11AP002) either from CRT or from UCP
(CWD).
19. Check the discharge pressure locally
(HLB21CP106).
20. Check the pump ’ON’ Feedback in the CRT monitor and in
CWD.
21. Stop Lube oil pump B either from CRT or from UCP
(CWD).
22. Check the discharge pressure locally
(HLB21CP106).
23. Check Lube oil pump A should not
start.
24. Check the OFF Feedback in the CRT monitor and in
CWD.
25. Put the Lube oil pump A in MAN mode & Lube oil pump B in AUTO
mode.
26. Check the Lube oil pump B will start instantly due to low discharge pressure
(<0.6ata).
27. Put the Lube oil pump A In AUTO
mode.
28. Check the Filter DP locally (HLB
21CP109).
29. Check the Lube oil pressure is OK (HLB21CP103) and > 0.8 ata. (Normally pressure should
be  1.8 Kg/ cm2 when one pump is running.)
30. Check the FD Fan A Motor Winding temperatures (HLB10CT102- HLB10CT113) & Bearing
temperatures (HLB10CT101 & HLB10CT114) are in Ambient in DAS/ CRT
display.
31. Check the FD Fan A Fan Bearing temperatures (HLB10CT115 - HLB10CT118) are in
Ambient in DAS/ CRT
display.
32. Check the FD Fan A Fan Bearing vibrations (HLB10CY101 - HNC10CY104) are showing
zero value in DAS/ CRT
display.

ii. Line up of the FD Fan A (HLB10AN001): -


i. Open the DMCW isolating Outlet & Inlet valves to the FD fan A Lub oil
coolers.
ii. Ensure that the alarm ‘FDF-A DP across lub oil filter high > 0.6 ’ is not appearing in DAS/
CRT and CWD01 alarm
facia.

iii. Ensure that the alarm ‘FDF-A ctrl oil pr. Low <6 ata ’ is not appearing in DAS/ CRT and
CWD01 alarm facia.Check FD Fan A control oil pressure (HLB11CP103) is adequate (>8
ata).
v. Ensure that the alarm ‘FDF-A brg / wdg temp / vib high’ is not appearing in DAS/ CRT and
CWD01 alarm facia.
vi. Check Fan blade pitch (HLB10AA101) is operating from remote and at minimum
position.
vii. Check Outlet gate (HLB10AA301) is in closed
condition.
viii. All manual valves of Combustion Chamber wind box (HHL11/12/13/14AA311) are in open
condition.
ix. Check ID Fan A or B is in running
condition.

x. Check the 6.6 KV voltage is


available.

xi. Check the Breaker is healthy and DC control supply is


‘ON’.
xii. Check the lockout switch is
normal.

xiii. Check the Fan is selected for remote


operation.

xiv. Check the OFF feedback of FD Fan A in DAS/ CRT &


UCP.
xv. Check, no electrical tripping is present for FD Fan
A.

iii. Initiate FDF A / B start command and verify

FD FAN A:-

1. Select the FD FAN A sequence control in ‘MAN’ mode from


CRT/CWD.
2. Keep open the FD Fan B Outlet damper
(HLB20AA301).
3. Increase the Fan blade pitch
(HLB10AA101).

4. Put Start command for FD Fan A either from CWD or from


CRT.
5. Check the FD Fan A will not
start.

6. Decrease the Fan blade pitch/ impeller (HLB10AA101) to


minimum.
7. Start FD Fan A either from CWD or from
CRT.

8. Check the ON feedback in DAS/ CRT & UCP.


9. Check the Ampere pegs up & drops down to no load Amps in DAS/ CRT monitor & in the Unit
Control Desk
Ammeter.

10. Check the 6.6 KV Bus voltage dips


slightly.

11. Open the FD Fan A Outlet gate (HLB10AA301).

12. Check the FD Fan B Outlet gate (HLB20AA301) starts


closing.
13. Check FD Fan A discharge pressure
(HLB10CP101).
14. Check the FD Fan A Motor Winding temperatures (HLB10CT102- HLB10CT113) & Bearing
temperatures (HLB10CT101 & HLB10CT114) are changing in DAS/ CRT
display.
15. Check the FD Fan A Fan Bearing temperatures (HLB10CT115 - HLB10CT118) are changing in
DAS/ CRT
display.

16. Check the FD Fan Bearing vibrations (HLB10CY101 - HNC10CY104) values go up in DAS/
CRT display.
17. Check SCAPH inlet damper (HLA10AA302) & outlet damper (HLA10AA303) are opened from
CWD/CRT. Check the feedback at
CRT/CWD.

18. Check SCAPH bypass damper (HLA10AA301) is in closed


condition.
19. Raise the FD Fan A blade pitch by
10%.

20. Check the pitch position feedback in DAS/ CRT &


UCP.
21. Check the ampere increases in DAS/ CRT &
UCP.

22. FD Fan A discharge pressure increases


further.

23. Secondary airflow to Wind box LHS/ RHS increases.


24. Blade pitch controller minimum permissive goes off.

For Auto sequential operation :


1. Select the FD FAN A Lub oil Pump A & B in ‘AUTO’ mode from
CRT/CWD.
1. Select the Group sequence control of FD Fan A in unfulfillment criteria mode from
CRT/CWD
2. Select the FD FAN A sequence control in ‘AUTO’ mode from
CRT/CWD
3. Issue the start command for FD Fan A either from CWD or from
CRT.
4. The following permissive will be checked before starting the Fan:
 ID Fan A /B is ON and FD B is OFF or Both ID Fan is
ON.
 FD Fan-A Motor wdg. Temp. not very
high.

 FD Fan-A Motor/fan brg. Temp. not very


high.
 FD Fan A ‘OFF’ feedback
available.

 No FD Fan A Electric
trip.

 FD Fan A selected for remote


operation.

 Breaker in
service

 Spring is
charged.

5. Step-01: FD Fan A either of the two Lub oil pump will start
automatically.
6. Within 10 sec. Lub oil pump ‘on’ feedback, lub oil pr. ‘ok’ and FD Fan A control oil pressure
(HLB11CP103) is adequate (>8 ata) should appear. Check for the same at
CRT/CWD.
7. Step-02: FD Fan A O/L gate close command & command for FD Fan A impeller (pitch)
control min. position will generate after completion of the Step-
01.
8. Within 25 sec. FD Fan A O/L gate close & FD Fan A impeller control min. position feedback
should appear. Check for the same at
CRT/CWD.
9. Step-03: FD Fan A start command will generate after completion of the Step-
02.
10. Within 02 sec. FD Fan A will start & ‘on’ feedback should appear at
CRT/CWD.
11. Step-04: FD Fan B O/L gate close & FD Fan B impeller control min. position command will
generate after completion of the Step-03 in case of FD Fan B is ‘Off’.

12. Within 60 sec. FD Fan B O/L gate close & FD Fan B impeller control min. position feedback
should appear. Check for the same at CRT/CWD. (In case of FD Fan B is ‘on’ & ‘impeller
control not minimum’ this step will be bypassed to step
06.)
13. Step-05: FD Fan A O/L gate open command will generate after completion of the Step-04.

14. Within 60-sec. FD Fan A O/L gate open feedback should appear at
CRT/CWD.
15. Step-06: FD Fan A impeller control ‘auto’ enable command will generate after completion of
the Step-05.
16. Within 2 sec FD Fan A impeller control ‘auto’ operation will be
enabled.
17. Step-07: After step 06 start up sequence will
complete.
Repeat the same steps above for FD FAN B for Auto sequential operation as well as for Man mode.

iv. INTERLOCK AND PROTECTIONS:


- ‘Lube oil pr. Low’ alarm (HLB11CP05A) appears at < 0.4ata .
- ‘FDF Lub oil tank level low’ < 50% alarm at DAS & CRT.
- ‘FDF-A Oil pressure after filter < 5ata’ (HLB11CP102) will appear at <5 ata and at CRT & DAS
and standby pump start.
- ‘FDF-CTRL oil pr. normal‘ alarm (HLB11CP103) appears at DAS (> 8 ata) ---- fan start
permissive
- ‘FDF lub oil pr. normal‘ will appear at DAS (>0. 8 ata) -- fan start
permit.
- ‘FDF-CTRL oil pr. Low ‘ alarm (HLB11CP104) appears at<6 ata.
- ‘FD-Lube oil filter p hi’ (HLB11CP101) appears at >0.6 kg/cm2.
- ‘FD Fan bearing vibration ’ high’/v.High(FD Fan trip) ---4.5/9.0mm/sec
- ‘FD Fan motor DE/NDE bearing temp. high/ v.high (FD Fan trip)--- 850/900C
- ‘FD Fan DE/NDE bearing temp.’ high’/v. High (FD Fan trip) ---950/1050C
- ‘FD Fan motor winding temp. ’ High’/v. High (FD Fan trip) ---1250/1300C
- FD Fan will trip if corresponding ID Fan trips.
