1. Starting an Experion PKS installation
1.1 Experion PKS installation modes options
ATTENTION
All installations should be started by first reviewing the Getting Started with
Experion Software Guide (GSG).
The following table assumes you were brought here from the GSG.

ATTENTION
All installations must be performed on an isolated network. The network must
remain isolated until anti-virus protection software is installed. Any network
connectivity during installation is a security risk on networks that have
external connectivity.

Deployment (UWD)
UWD installation is an automated process that installs the Windows
Operating System followed by the Experion PKS Application software.
This is the preferred method that should be used on all Honeywell
qualified machines.
UWD is not intended for systems not purchased from Honeywell. Even
Dell machines purchased from other vendors can contain unqualified
hardware that would cause UWD to fail.

Experion PKS computers purchased from Honeywell come with
Experion PKS software preinstalled. You will use the same task list as
a UWD installation described above, skipping the initial steps that
utilize the EXPPlus and Applications media. Once you begin Factory
Setup, complete all subsequent tasks.

Manual Clean Installation can be done in two ways.
1) Install OS using EXPPlus Media in OS Only mode, followed by
Experion PKS software using the Application Media or using
Experion Software Installation Server (ESIS) node. For information
on ESIS and how to setup ESIS, refer to the Getting Started with
Experion Software Guide (GSG).
2) Install OS using OEM media and procedures, followed by Experion
PKS software using Application Media or using ESIS node. For
information on ESIS and how to setup ESIS, refer the Getting
Started with Experion Software Guide (GSG). This method is used
if you have purchased a computer from a vendor other then
Honeywell and is defined in the Getting Started with Experion
Software Guide (GSG).

1.2 Honeywell Process Solutions (HPS) Online Support


ATTENTION
Accessing the online support site should be done only from a secured PC as
opposed to the installed control system.

TIP
While at the Online Support site, you may also want to review Anti Virus
recommendations and folder exclusions. You will need this information during
the installation. These can be found at,

Before installing Experion, please check the Online Support site for updates. If you are a
new user, you can register for access to Online Support site at this URL.

1 In your web browser application, type the following URL:


http://www.honeywell.com/ps
2 Click Login to My Account.
3 Type your user name and password, and then click Login.
4 Choose „System Products‟ from the support Links.
5 Select Experion Platform and then the product sub group of interest, such
as Process Controllers.
6 The resulting pages contain the latest notifications and software updates.
You should look specifically for any required R310.1 software updates that
need to be downloaded and applied to your system.

The following are TIPS and information that apply throughout this
document. Some of these may also be repeated within this document in
order to emphasize their importance

1 Make a copy of the checklist so that it is easier to keep track of where you are
in the installation process.
2 Several critical functions depend on proper time synchronization. Without the
proper time synchronization, functions like DSA and Controller
communications may not work correctly.
3 If you need help during installation process, refer to the On-Line Help by
selecting the help button for a detailed description of the options on each
screen.

4 During a reboot sequence the FteImDrv driver will record several Error
Events in the System Event log. These Error Events are expected. The
FteImDrv driver gets loaded before the underlying NIC driver and will not be
able to see the NICs until the E1000 or E100 driver is loaded.
You will see the events from FteImDrv showing the media disconnected
followed by the event that FteImDrv can‟t access the adapter and finally the
event that the media is connected.
This is a normal sequence of Events.

5 Before a T-Node can be used in Experion architecture, you must perform the
steps under Prepare TPN/LCN for Integrated Experion-TPS Nodes in the
Integrated Experion-TPS Nodes (ES-T, ESVT, & ACE-T) User's Guide.

Anti-virus programs
Before performing an installation, your anti-virus services should be stopped to allow
proper installation of the Honeywell software.

ATTENTION
Make sure that you restart your anti-virus services after you have completed
your installation.

Follow the recommendation in the table below.

ATTENTION
Experion PKS R310.1 Supports installation using Experion Software
Installation Server (ESIS). For details on creating a ESIS node refer to the
Getting Started with Experion Software Guide (GSG)
You cannot install Experion PKS nodes on a computer that is configured
as a Windows domain controller. You can however be a member of a
domain.
The computer restarts during the installation process, so it is
recommended that you have no other applications running during the
installation process.

ATTENTION
Before installing your operating system, the hard drive will be re-formatted.
Make sure that you have disconnected any external drives so that those
drives will not be inadvertently re-formatted instead of the internal hard drive.

ATTENTION
If you intend to use ESIS for installing Experion node then ensure that ESIS
node is ready and folder is shared with appropriate permissions.

WARNING
If you are replacing an existing Server B due to a hardware failure or you

Experion PKS Client/Server Initialization DVD (EXPPlus).
The Windows Server 2003 / XP Professional Certificate of Authenticity, which
contains Product Identification number.
For Windows Server 2003:
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 (Standard Edition) CD, or
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 (Standard Edition) CD Set, (See note), or
Dell Windows Server 2003 (Standard Edition) re-installation CD, or
Dell Windows Server 2003 R2 (Standard Edition) CD Set re-installation CD, (See
note).
Note: If you have the “R2” version (2 CD Pack), then only “Disk 1”, which
contains Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1, should be used.
For Windows XP:
Microsoft Windows XP Professional CD or Dell re-installation is recommended.
Use a Windows XP Professional CD SP2 media for OS installation otherwise you
will be prompted to re-insert the EXPPlus media during the installation.

ATTENTION
EXPPlus Installation facilitates installation by installing platform specific drivers,
updates, and post installation configuration for Experion system. The EXPPlus
media does not contain Operating System software. EXPPlus installation will
prompt the user to insert Windows Server 2003/XP Professional media

2850-based Honeywell platform

A clean installation of the Windows XP Professional on the following Honeywell
workstations:

370-based Honeywell platform
470-based Honeywell platform
490-based Honeywell platform

CAUTION
Honeywell Qualified platforms contain configurations and hardware
components that are specific to the Honeywell configuration.
Similar models purchased directly from Dell or from some other manufacturer
may not contain the same qualified hardware. In this case, for Dell platforms,
use Dell‟s OEM installation method.

Considerations
Before proceeding to install EXPPlus, refer to the following steps for hardware and
peripherals setup.

1 Insert the EXPPlus media into the appropriate drive of the target platform.
Autorun launches the On-Media web home page.
For a migration, close this screen and proceed to the next step.
Note: It may be necessary to perform this procedure on a system that already
has a running Windows operating system to view the information about the
installation. Items such as RAID, BIOS, etc may have to be modified.

TIP
RAID and BIOS Firmware‟s are updated during EXPPlus
installation

2 For PowerEdge Servers with RAID Controllers: Click on EXPPlus Link on


the left hand side, then on BIOS Settings link in the „Installation Procedure‟
step 3.
Follow the procedure for RAID Configuration

ATTENTION
RAID Configuration procedure for PowerEdge 2900 and 2950
Server is separate from that for 1600SC, 2600, 1800, and 2850.
Refer the correct procedure for your Dell Platform

Review the information on the page, and if necessary perform the steps on the
target platform to initialize the RAID configuration before starting the
installation.
3 For Workstations: Click on the Device connections. Then,
Click on Multi-Monitor setup instructions and connect the Monitors as
described.
Click on the Keyboard/Touchscreen Setup and connect the Keyboards
and/or Touchscreens as described.

Starting the EXPPlus installation

Floppy Options
The following floppy usage options are available.
Use no floppy. Configuration files will be saved on RAM disk and are not available for
future installations.
Insert a blank floppy disk. Configuration files can be saved on floppy disk and can be
used for future installations.
Insert a floppy disk with configuration files. For re-installing the same node.

TIP
It is recommended to save configuration files on Floppy disk as a backup. If
configuration files are saved on RAM disk, they cannot be used later for re-
installation.

Step Action
1 Ensure that the EXPPlus media is in the CD/DVD-ROM drive and if
necessary, the Options Floppy disk is in the Floppy drive.
2 Restart the computer.
The EXPPlus initialization screens will appear.
For Windows Server 2003 installation, review the on screen warning for
RAID.

ATTENTION
EXPPlus will automatically install RAID firmware, but it does not
automatically configure RAID

If you have not yet defined your RAID settings, press “Abort Installation” to
cancel EXPPlus. Reboot the PC, configure RAID and repeat Step 1
otherwise,
Click Continue.
3 (For re-installation) If floppy disk has valid configuration files. Go to Step 11.

The computer name must be 15 characters, or less, in

Review the configuration details and make changes if required.
If you had selected to Install the “Operating System and Experion PKS
(R310)”, click the Process Software button and perform the following
tasks:

ATTENTION
Operating System configuration and Network Configuration
choices will restrict the types of Experion nodes that can be
selected for installation. Some of these are the following:
Network Configuration
(for example. FTE Network Type)
Optional Services installed (Terminal Server Service and
Internet Information Server)
For Experion PKS Servers ONLY, it will be necessary to select the
appropriate Redundancy Option at the top left of the dialog. If
necessary, change the Computer Name.
Select the System Type.
NOTE: If the intended System Type is not available, click abort and
review your selections. When complete, press the Process Software
button again and repeat the process.
Click OK on the Operation Completed message.
Click Generate Configuration Files.
EPCTool prompts to save the configuration files to a floppy disk. If a
floppy disk is in use, click Yes followed by OK to acknowledge the file
copy message. If not done prior, a blank floppy disk can be inserted at
this time.
Click No if you do not intend to save the configuration on a floppy disk.

11 Screen indicating Configuration files are valid will appear.

Click Continue to start the Windows Server 2003 / Windows XP installation.

CAUTION
If you had selected Use Drive C: [SYSTEM] then only C Drive
will be formatted. Drive letters may be change.
If Single or Two Partition is selected in System Details tab
then the process partitions and formats the hard drive before
starting the installation.
Previous data stored on the drive will no longer be accessible
after confirming the dialog.

Click on the EPCTool to revisit and make changes to the configuration.


12 On the End user‟s License Agreement (EULA) screen, click I Agree.
13 EXPPlus installation will prompt the user to insert the Operating System
software media Windows Server 2003/Windows XP Professional.
Remove the EXPPlus media and insert the appropriate OS media as
described in this section‟s Prerequisites: Windows Server 2003 Std.
Edition media or Windows XP Professional media.
Click Continue.

14 EXPPlus installation window will show the following message:

Remove the EXPPlus media and floppy disk (if used) from their devices.
For a UWD install, insert the Experion PKS Application software media in the
DVD drive. User can click on Cancel to insert Experion PKS Application
software media later.
To continue with UWD installation click Continue button.
15 Wait until Microsoft EULA screen appears. Review the License Agreement
and when ready, select the “I accept this agreement” radio button. Select
Next button to continue.
16 Windows setup will prompt you for the Admin password. Enter the password
and click Next.
17 Expect to see the following in the next few steps:

Windows/Dell Installation screens
Screen flickering and Computer restarting

During a UWD, all user interaction dialogs contain the message “UWD
System Config” to distinguish the information collection dialogs from the
actual installation dialogs.

Step Action

1 On the Unattended Workstation Deployment dialog click OK to continue.


Upon completion of the Operating System installation, an UWD dialog states
that “It is necessary for you to enter your system information in the
screens which follow” and click OK to continue.
2 Depending on the Experion PKS system type chosen, you may be presented
with several Networking Selection Dialogs.
Make the appropriate selection based upon your Control System Networking
Topology plans.

TIP
If you did not pre-plan your Control Systems Networking
Topologies, press the Help Button on each dialog for additional
information that will help you choose the proper selections.

3 On the License Agreement screen, read the license agreement and then click
I accept the terms in the license agreement, and then click Next.

4 On the Experion PKS – Customer Information and Software Licenses
screen:
Enter Customer Information.
Enter the System Number and Authorization Number for “Experion
PKS System Software”.
If you are installing TPS components, then select the LCN under Optional
Control Network connections.
Making the LCN selection will install the required TPS infrastructure on your
system.
For ES-F/CE, ES-C, ACE, and Simulation Environments select Install Custom
Algorithm Block (CAB) Developer Remote Debug if required.

TIP
Some systems may prompt with a default Experion PKS System
License and Authorization Number already filled in. This should
always be replaced with the Experion PKS System License and
Authorization Numbers purchased with the software to enable
all of your specific site requirements.
Press the Help Button for additional information that will help
you choose the proper selections.

5 If you want to install optional TPS components, select Yes under Are there
licensed TPS Components to Install? Then fill in the appropriate TPS
Component License Number and Authorization Number.
Click Next.
On the Experion PKS - Optional Components screen, select the required
optional components, and then click Next.

TIP
Some Packages should not be installed on all systems and
have topology restrictions.
Press the Help Button for additional information that will help
you choose the proper selections.

6 For Experion PKS Server and eServer, you will be prompted whether or not
to install the Enterprise Model Database. (EMDB).
Select the appropriate option and click Next to continue.

TIP
If you are installing redundant servers, this selection should be
consistent on BOTH ServerA and ServerB.
If you are unsure whether this is needed for your topology,
leave the default as “Install”. A utility application is available to
remove or re-add the software post installation.

7 During Experion Server installation with FTE or Ethernet for Simulation
Systems as EPN user will be prompted to enter following items. This
information will be served to Control Devices such as Cx00, ACE, and
Simulation Environments etc…
Enter the Base IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway.

TIP
If you are unsure of what IP Address/subnet scheme you are
planning to implement, enter in the IP Address, Subnet Mask
and Default Gateway of the system you are setting up.
This can be changed later via System Preferences information
in Control Builder during post installation prior to downloading
control strategies.
Press the Help Button for more information.

Click Next to continue.


Enter the First and Second (optional) NTP Server IP address.
Fill in the IP Address of NTP First and Second Time Servers in the
network.

TIP
If you are unsure of what your time servers IP Addresses are,
you can default to the localhost for NTP First and “0.0.0.0” for
the NTP Second. This information can be changed later during
the “Setting Up Time Synchronization” in the SITG.

8 For Experion PKS Console Stations, ACE, and Simulation Environments, you
will be prompted to enter the Cluster Name of the Experion PKS Server the
node communicates with.

TIP
For Standalone Servers, the Cluster Name is the Computer
Name.
For Redundant Systems, the Cluster Name is the Computer
Name, minus the last letter (A or B).
Press the Help Button for more information.

Enter the Cluster Name. If the server is to be a redundant server, select the
“Server is Redundant” checkbox.
Click Next to continue.
9 For ACE or Simulation Environments:
On the Experion PKS - Enter MNGR Password screen, select the check
box if your system configuration requires the CDASP Service to logon using
the mngr account.
10 The Confirm Installation Settings dialog presents a summary of your
selections. Confirm your inputs and click Next to continue.
11 Click Continue on the Product Selection (Installation Data Gathering is
complete).
12 CAUTION
The remaining part of the installation is performed in an
unattended manner.
Installation dialogs will be displayed at this point with a
message “CAUTION – UWD Installation is automatic – please
do not touch this dialog box.”
If the system requires interaction, the CD/DVD tray will be
ejected and a message will be displayed on the screen.
Perform the task required, click Yes to continue, and then do
not interact with the system.

13 When prompted, remove the media in the CD/DVD tray and insert the media
that is being requested.
Click Yes.

14 Upon completion of the automated installation, you will be prompted to
change the password of any accounts created during the installations.

ATTENTION
If this node will be part of a domain, ensure that the
password adheres to the domain password policy.
After completion of the password changes, click Done on the dialog and OK
to acknowledge the warning message.
15 Acknowledge the “Check OLS…” dialog.
16 Reboot the system. This completes the unattended installation process.

3 If prompted, on the Hardware Installation screen, Click Yes (multiple times)

4.4 Starting an Experion Server clean installation


The following procedure details the steps required to successfully install an Experion
Server.

Step Action

1 Restart the computer and log on using a Windows account with local
administrators rights. This Windows account must be used throughout the
installation.

2 If using the ESIS for installing Experion software then map the ESIS shared folder
on the node locally.
See the Getting Started with Experion Software Guide for details on setting up the
ESIS. See this guide, Map a drive to the ESIS on page 105 for details on mapping
to the ESIS.

TIP
If your user account and password logging onto the system is
recognized by the ESIS Server, perform a direct network
mapping to the ESIS Share, using the “Reconnect at Logon”
option.
Or
Create a batch file called startup.bat with the following contents:
NET USE /PERSISTENT:NO
NET USE I: \\<<ESIS Server Name>>\<<MEDIA Share>>
/USER:<<Domain\User>> <<the user‟s password>>
Save the Startup.bat file to C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup (Assuming the OS is
installed on the C Drive)
Note: The same can be used without an account password, but
it will be necessary to enter the password on each system
restart.

TIP
Skip this step if using a physical media for Installation.

3 Insert the Experion PKS Application Software Media into the CD/DVD Drive.
Or
If using ESIS right click on the ESIS mapped network drive and click Autoplay.
An autorun page should appear on the display.
Click on the arrow button, next to the label “Install/Migrate Experion PKS”
If the Autorun page was not automatically displayed, use Windows Explorer to
browse to root directory of the Experion PKS Application Software Media, and then
double-click the setup.exe.

TIP
In case of ESIS installation security dialog may appear, click on
Open Click on continue on all security warning prompted.

After starting Installation / Migration close the autorun page.

ATTENTION
If you see the error message below, it means you have tried to
start the installation twice, for example by clicking on the
Setup.exe twice or clicking on the Install/Migrate Experion PKS
twice. Click OK and the first installation instance will proceed.

4 On Experion PKS System Evaluation screen, select Install Clean, and then click
Next.

5 On Migration Application warning screen, click Yes.

6 If Migration Application is about to reboot appears, click OK to shutdown and


restart the system. Log on as before.

7 On the Experion PKS - Product Selection screen,


Select Experion PKS Server.
If necessary, check the box, Caution – Be sure this box is checked if
your Control System has one or more of the following:
C200 and / or C300 controllers
ACE, SIM-C200 or EHG nodes
Fieldbus Interface Module, or FTE Bridge module

TIP
If you are unsure whether the check box needs to be selected or
not, refer to the On-Line Help by selecting the help button for a
detailed description.

Click Next

8 Depending on the above selection, one or two Network Selection screens will
appear. Make appropriate selections, and then click Next.
If you are installing TPS components, then select the LCN under Optional Control
Network connections.
Making the LCN selection will install the required TPS infrastructure on your
system. You must have an LCNP4 board installed on the PC to use the LCN.

TIP
Refer to the On-Line Help Button for a detailed description of the
Network selections.

9 On License Agreement screen, read the license agreement and then click I accept
the terms in the license agreement, and then click Next.

the default as “Install”. A utility application is available to remove
or re-add the software during post installation called
EPKS_Modify.
Press the Help Button for additional information that will help you
choose the proper selection.

Click Next to proceed On the NTP IP Address configuration screen:
Enter the NTP First IP address.
Enter the NTP Second IP address or default to 0.0.0.0.

TIP
If you are unsure of what your time servers IP Addresses or
FTE configuration, use the IP Address for the system you are
setting up. This information can be changed during post
installation.

Click Next.

14 On the Experion PKS - Enter MNGR Password screen, type the Windows mngr
account password and then click Next.

17 During the process, several packages will be installed. The status of each will be
provided on Status Panel.
Between different phases, an Attention screen will appear.
Click OK to shutdown and restart. Log on with the same account and password as
before.

18 If you selected ControlNet (via PCIC) or ControlNet (via Ethernet) or RSLinx in a


Network Selection screen, follow the RSLinx on-screen prompts. For more detail,
you can go to page. 109, Installing RSLinx.

19 You will be asked to remove the Application DVD and insert the Knowledge Builder
DVD.

Knowledge Builder.
After the Knowledge Builder installation has completed, you will be asked to
remove the Knowledge Builder DVD and re-insert the Application DVD.

20 On the auto run page, Click on the arrow button next to the label “Close” to close
the auto run page.
Engineering Tools, Server software, Operator Displays, Profit Loop Assistant
programs are loaded.
Click OK to shutdown and restart. Log on with the same account and password as
before.

21 When prompted remove the Experion PKS Application Software Media,


Insert Support Media and click Yes.

TIP
User will not be prompted for media change if using ESIS

On Experion PKS Update Manager Update (s) Installation screen, click


Next.
On Experion PKS Update Manager Installation confirmation screen, click
Install.

TIP
If prompted, click on setup or continue to proceed with any
patch/updates installation. Also if prompted acknowledge any
additional dialogs.

Click Finish.

22 Click OK to shutdown and restart. Log on with the same account and password as

17 Experion PKS eServer installs with minimal user interaction.

There is an initialization phase that can take a minute or two. This is
normal.
a) Enter Standard Access Admin password.
b) Enter Standard Access User password.
c) Click Next.
d) Select Complete Install, which is the default.
e) Click Next.
f) Click Install.

18 Server Software, Operator Displays, Profit Loop Assistant, and Additional optional
components are installed with no user interaction.

19 Click OK to shutdown and restart. Log on with the same account and password as
before.

20 When prompted remove the Experion PKS Application Software Media,


Insert Support Media and click Yes.

TIP
User will not be prompted for media change if using ESIS

On Experion PKS Update Manager Update (s) Installation screen, click


Next.
On Experion PKS Update Manager Installation confirmation screen, click
Install.

TIP
If prompted, click on setup or continue to proceed with any
patch/updates installation. Also if prompted acknowledge any
additional dialogs.

Click Finish.

21 Click OK to shutdown and restart. Log on with the same account and password as
before.

22 On the Experion PKS Setup Complete screen, Click Finish.

The following procedure details the steps required to successfully install an Experion
ACE or SIM-C200.

Step Action

1 Restart the computer and log on using a Windows account with local administrators
rights. This Windows account must be used throughout the installation.

2 If using the ESIS for installing Experion software then map the ESIS shared folder
on the node locally.
See the Getting Started with Experion Software Guide for details on setting up the
ESIS. See this guide, Map a drive to the ESIS on page 105 for details on mapping
to the ESIS.

TIP
If your user account and password logging onto the system is
recognized by the ESIS Server, perform a direct network
mapping to the ESIS Share, using the “Reconnect at Logon”
option.
Or
Create a batch file called startup.bat with the following contents:

Select Experion PKS Application Control Environment (ACE) or
Experion PKS Simulation Environments (e.g. SIM_ACE, SIM-Cx00).
Click Next.

7 Depending on the above selection, one or two Network Selection screens will
appear.

TIP
If ACE was selected, you can select LCN as an optional control
network. You must have an LCNP4 board installed to use the LCN.

Make appropriate selections, and then click Next.

8 On License Agreement screen, read the license agreement and then click I accept
the terms in the license agreement, and then click Next.

9 On the Experion PKS – Customer Information and Software Licenses screen,


Enter Customer information.
For ACE, if you want to install TPS optional components, select Yes under
Are there licensed TPS Components to Install? Then fill in the
appropriate TPS Component License Number and Authorization Number.
If you selected ACE or Simulation Environments in Step 6 above, the Install
CAB Developer Software Remote Debug Software option is available. If
required select Install Software. This option requires an Experion PKS
System Software license.

TIP
CAB Software use requires validation of your Experion PKS System
License and Authorization Number.
Press the Help Button for additional information.

After completing all fields, click Next.

a) Enter the server‟s cluster name in field provided.
b) If you have redundant Experion PKS servers, select the Server is
Redundant check box.

TIP
For Standalone Servers, the Cluster Name is the Computer Name
of your server.
For Redundant Systems, the Cluster Name is the Computer Name,
minus the last letter (A or B).
Press the Help Button for additional information that will help you
enter the proper information.
c) Click Next.

12 On the Experion PKS - Enter MNGR Password screen, type the Windows mngr
account password and then click Next.

Attention:
The mngr password must be the same on all Experion PKS
nodes. The password must meet all Windows password
requirements such as length, special characters, etc.
13 On the Confirm Installation Settings screen, verify that the Software Installation
Settings are correct, and then click Next. If required, you can go back and make
changes.

14 On the Product Selection screen, click Continue.

15 Security and communications components will install with no user interaction.


Click OK to shutdown and restart the system. Log on as before.

16 If you selected ControlNet (via PCIC) in a Network Selection screen, follow the
RSLinx on-screen prompts. For more detail, you can go to page. 109, Installing
RSLinx.
Click OK to shutdown and restart. Logon as before"

Network connections.
Making the LCN selection will install the required TPS infrastructure on your system.

Step Action
1 On the Installation Type screen, review the options provided and select the
type of installation you wish to perform on this system. Valid options are:
Full Install
Client Only Install
Server Only Install
After selecting a type, click Next to continue.

TIP
Knowledge Builder Server should be installed prior to Client Only
Install.
2 If you selected Full Install or Server Only Install, select the Bookset(s) you
want to install on this node/server, and then click Next.

TIP
Selecting the box next to Install will select all Booksets to be
installed.
3 On the Server Selection screen:
a) If you selected Client Only Install, click Browse, and then browse to the

Adding a book set to a Windows 2000 system


As of the Experion R310.1 Knowledge Builder and Knowledge Builder Tools version
4.5.0.xx, book sets cannot be installed on older Windows 2000 systems. If a user wants
to add an Experion R310.1 or newer book set to an older Windows 2000 system, they
must follow the procedure detailed below.

ATTENTION
Book sets added via the following procedure cannot be “uninstalled”. If
Knowledge Builder is removed from a system that has a book set that was
installed using this procedure, it will remain on the system.
Books sets added via this procedure must be manually removed before
attempting a migration.

Manually copy and paste the desired book set from the Knowledge Builder media and
drop it into the Knowledge Builder server as defined on your system. The following
procedure uses the Experion R301.1 book set as an example.

Step Action
1 Copy the entire book set folder from the Knowledge Builder media.

example, the server is a local Knowledge Builder Server but the same applies

the R301.1 book set folder is pasted under the Docs folder in C:\Program
Files\Honeywell\PST_Server\Knowledge_Builder\Docs\

3 Under the Docs folder in the Knowledge Builder Sever location there is a file
named KB_Selection.xml. Add the book set tags to this file as shown below.
The new tags can be placed after any other book set tag set. Order is not
important. Follow the steps below.
1 Using Notepad, open the file KB_Selection.xml under the just
copied book set. In this example, it would be under the C:\Program
Files\Honeywell\PST_Server\Knowledge_Builder\Docs\Experion
R301.1\ folder.
2 Copy the tags as shown below from this file and paste into the
KB_Selection.xml file under the C:\Program
Files\Honeywell\PST_Server\Knowledge_Builder\Docs\ folder.

Prerequisites
Windows Server 2003 CD.

Step Action
1 Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel and then double-click the Add or
Remove Programs icon.
2 Click the Add or Remove Windows Components icon on the left side of the
screen.
There may be a delay of up to one minute.
3 On the Windows Components Wizard screen, highlight Application Server
and then click Details.
4 On the Application Server screen, select the Internet Information Services
(IIS) option and then click Details.
5 Clear all options except those listed below

6 For Event Archiving, select the World Wide Web Service > World Wide

5.2 Updating the hosts file


You must identify the computer name and associated IP address of each Experion PKS
server and Console Station in the hosts file. Both server and client computers require a
modified hosts file with identical entries, so you can edit the hosts file on one
computer and then copy it to each computer in the Experion PKS system.
The hosts file is located in %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc\, where
%SystemRoot% is normally C:\WINDOWS.
Use any text editing tool, such as Notepad, to edit the file. The file name is hosts
The following server naming conventions is used in the host file examples provided:
Standalone Server network name: SERVER
Redundant Primary Server network name: SERVERA
Redundant Secondary Server network name: SERVERB
Console Station XX network name (where XX = 01 - 10): CSTNXX
The following examples show typical system configurations and the entries that should
be included in the hosts file. The following examples assume that the system contains
two Console Stations. Replace network addresses and network names with value
appropriate for your configuration. Any text following “#” (without quotes) on a single
line is a comment and may be omitted from the hosts file.

ATTENTION
The LCNP personality software is necessary for the node to operate as a
TPN/LCN node.
Install the appropriate personality version, depending on your TPN/LCN
version (R641.2 or greater).
If you need to check the version of an installed and loaded AxM personality,
see “Verifying TPN/LCN Installation and Version” in the Integrated Experion-
TPS Nodes (ES-T, ESVT, ACE-T) User's Guide.

Step Action
1 To install the LCNP Personality software on the local drive:
For an ES-T, insert the GUS-TPN Software CD.
For an ESVT, insert the Application Module Software CD.
For an ACE-T, insert the Application Module Software CD.
2 If you are installing personality software for an ES-T, use Windows Explorer
to navigate to the following directory on the CD:
\GUS\PERS_US\DISK1
If you are installing personality software for an ESVT or ACE-T, use
Windows Explorer to navigate to the following directory on the CD:
\APP\PERS_AM\DISK1
3 Double-click the SETUP.EXE file.
4 Read the Welcome dialog information.

5.4 Map a drive to the ESIS


This section describes two methods to map a drive to access the ESIS and run Experion
Migration Application and installation software. You must map a drive in the following
cases:
Before you start a migration using the ESIS, you must first map a drive from the
node to be migrated to the ESIS.
If the node migration includes an OS installation, hardware platform change, product
change, or other options, you must recreate the mapped drive to the ESIS on the
node after the OS installation, hardware changes, and other options have been
completed.
Note: Use the same mapping throughout the migration.

TIP
For workgroups, your node must be in the workgroup otherwise, you will have
to re-connect each time the node re-starts.

To map a drive to the ESIS:

Step Action
1 Verify the current Windows Administrator account passwords for the ESIS
and the node to be migrated are identical, or that a domain based account
has administration of the node plus Read Only status.
If you are unable to verify these passwords,
Use standard Windows procedure to change the Administrator password.
Use the Password Change Utility to change the mngr password. See page
Error! Bookmark not defined. for the procedure.
2 On the node to be migrated, perform either task a or b to create a path to the
ESIS:
a. Map a drive to the ESIS share and select the “Reconnect at Logon”
option.
OR
b. Create a batch file called startup.bat with the following contents:
NET USE /PERSISTENT:NO
NET USE I: \\<<ESIS Server Name>>\<<MEDIA Share>>
/USER:<<Domain\User>> <<the user’s password>>
(See examples below.)
Note: The same command line can be used without an account password,
but you will need to enter the password on each system restart.

The following are examples showing the construction of command lines for
the ESIS in domain and workgroup environments:
Domain Example:
ESIS Server Name = MServer
The share you created where the media image is installed = EXP310
The user account is in a domain named = Fred
Username = installer

6.1 Installing RSLinx

If a message appears during the installation requesting you to restore a backup of the
RSLinx configuration, click OK to continue the installation.

To install RSLinx:

1 On the RSLinx Welcome screen, click Next to continue installing RSLinx.

2 On the License Agreement screen, click I accept the terms in the license
agreement, and then click Next.

3 On the Customer Information screen, type the User Name and


Organization, and then click Next.

4 On the Standard Setup screen, click Next to accept the default features to
install.

5 On the Ready to Install the Program screen, click Install to start installing the
RSLinx applications.
This installation may take several minutes to complete.

6 On the Installation Wizard Completed screen, click Finish.

7 Review the Release Notes and then close the window that displays the

This section details the steps that must be taken to restore a Server B that has been in
service. Not following the steps in this section could result in loss-of-view of your
stations to your process.

7.1 Restore Server B after a hardware replacement


This procedure is used when you are replacing the hardware platform on Server B or
performing a clean installation on an existing Server B and you have not used EBR to
back up your databases.

Step Action
1 Make sure that Server A is running as Primary.
2 Remove Server B from the network, (disconnect network cables).
3 Shutdown Server B.
4 Replace Server B, (do not connected network cables).
5 Restore Server B. See Starting an Experion Server clean installation.
6 Select Start > Settings > Control Panel and double-click Services.
7 Change Startup Type of Experion PKS System Repository to Disable and
then Stop the service.
8 Click OK to Stop Control Data Access service.
10 Connect Server B to the network.
11 Launch Configuration Studio and connect to the server.
12 On Process Control Strategies category, click Administer the control
strategy database.
13 In the ERDB Admin Tasks folder, select the Recover the Primary Database.

WARNING
A loss of view will be encountered on Server A during these
steps.

14 Click Yes to recover the database.


15 Click OK to acknowledge that the recovery is complete.
16 Select Enable Replication to start the ERDB replication.

8. Removing Experion PKS
This section describes how to remove all Experion Server components.

ATTENTION
The Experion PKS Application Software Media R301.1 is required to remove
RSLinx.

Step Action

1 Using the Engineering Tools Services Control Panel (run it via its shortcut),
select Stop All including SQL and click ok. The services will be stopped and
the Control Panel will exit when it has finished.

2 For Experion Servers and Console Stations ONLY:


Using the Experion PKS Server Start/Stop program, change the Server State
to “Database Unloaded”. Once the state has changed to Database Unloaded,
close the Start/Stop Program

3 From Service Control Panel, Stop Windows Management Instrumentation


service.

4 If RSLinx is installed on your system:


a) Click on the RSLinx communications icon (found on the lower-right
part of the monitor screen) to open “RSLinx Lite
b) Select File, Exit and Shutdown.
c) Click Yes to confirm.

5 Execute C:\Install\RemoveHwlSoftware.bat file.

6 Press any key to continue.

7 Click Yes to confirm the un-installation of Experion PKS.

8 Few Experion components will be removed with no user interaction.

9 If the Experion PKS Server / Client Welcome screen appears


Click Next to continue.
a) On Program Maintenance screen, Select Remove, and then click Next.
b) On the Retain Old Database option, select NO, and then click Next.
c) On Remove the program screen, click Remove
d) On Experion PKS Sever / client setup screen, click Finish
e) Click NO to restart later.

Cause Because of some hardware or software resource limitation or

Solution Reboot the node and restart the Experion PKS installation by
double-clicking on the setup.exe file on the root of the
Application DVD. Select Next on the Product Selection Screen
and the installation will continue automatically from the point
where it had stopped.

Symptom If installation aborts during an intermediate reboot

Cause There is a possibility of having a bad media or bad drive

Solution Check in System Event viewer if you have a warning or error


related to “cdrom”. Try using different Media or replace the drive
and resume installation using setup.exe

Symptom Not able to see service Tag during EXPPlus

Cause Motherboard on machine has been changed

Solution Contact Dell Support and update the Service Tag.
