Reflection
(Minimum of 3-4 sentences per question)
1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology coaching and technology leadership from
completing this field experience?

The field experience was one that allowed me to refer to my background in Special Education and provided the teacher, student and
myself the opportunity to explore the resources available to students and teachers in Fulton County schools. It also provided me the
opportunity to work more intimately with a teacher and student on specific strategies and tools that would help the student access the
curriculum. Strategies were presented to the teacher and the student and teacher were trained on how to use the tools. As a technology
leader, it is important that I stay abreast to the tools and resources available to teachers and students. This stands true for all students, not
excluding and disabilities or circumstances. Doing so allows me to better support and guide teachers and students with using tools and
resources that best assist students in achieving their learning goals.

2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you be able to do) and dispositions
(attitudes, beliefs, enthusiasm) required of a technology facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected
above. Use the language of the PSC standards in your answer and reflect on all 3—knowledge, skills, and dispositions.)
Knowledge – As a technology coach, you must maintain a depth of knowledge about various tools and resources. In the case of this
field experience, it was important to have a depth of knowledge about assistive technologies, how they are used and what benefits they
present to the student who use them. It’s also important to know that assistive technology stretches across a wide range of tools and
services. Assistive technology can be as simple as a highlighter and expand to a software such as Microsoft Office OneNote Notebook.

Skills – Like teachers, it’s important for technology leaders to be abreast to how assistive technology tools are used and how they best
serve and support the students who use them. Technology leaders should also be able to troubleshoot the assistive technology devices
and teach students how to properly use them as well.

Dispositions – Technology leaders must have a clear understanding the assistive technology tools are meant to assist and provide
students with a greater opportunity to maximize their achievement within the classroom. Technology leaders must know the use of
assistive technology tools does not mean students cannot learn or are unable to achieve academically.

3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or student learning at your school.
How can the impact be assessed?

Because this field experience provided the general education teacher with tools she was not familiar with, it impacted school
improvement. The field experienced could be assessed as the year progresses and the teacher continues to move forward with working
with the student using the tools she learned. Ms. Jackson is personalized learning/technology leader in the school, therefore, she can
work to improve faculty development in the future. Student learning is impacted because all students can use and benefit from assistive
technology and build on shared knowledge.
