Abstract
Acne vulgaris is a chronic inflammatory disease in the pilosebaceous unit, associated with
increased sebum production, follicular hyperproliferation, Propionibacterium acnes colonization
and inflammation. Pilosebaceous unit consist of sebaceous glands that produce sebum, in the
follicles of the pilosebaseous gland can occur disruption of the proliferation and differentiation of
keratinocytes that forms a formation of comedones or called comedogenesis. Clinical
manifestations of comedones have various forms: sandpaper comedones, black head and white
head, submarine comedones, macrocomedo, cholracne, nevoid comedones and konglobata
comedones. Management of various forms of comedones can affect treatment options.
