The DIY kit is intended for a skilled person and is not recommended as a first DIY synth project.

We do not provide help with step-by-step assembly and/or debugging. But if some questions do
come up - you're welcome to ask of course!

The circuitry is not provided. All PCBs have clear markings and are easy to assemble. When
correctly assembled, the synth does not need to be tuned.

The top panel print is provided as reference, there is no vector or high-resolution file of the print
in the bundle. The print design is up to your wishes and imagination.

What's in the kit:

1 x main PCB
1 x controls PCB
1 x in\out PCB
2 x shields
2 x HEF4093 NXP
files' bundle

All PCBs are without parts. You need to source and solder it by yourself. You can find a BOM in
the files bundle.

GENERAL INFORMATION

All sockets have a number. The same numbers should be connected by a bus. The first pin is
marked by a triangle.

If you use liquid flux, wash it off carefully, especially at the 1-4 socket's pads.

The sensors circuit is very sensitive to any, even small leakage to the ground. Don't leave any
conductive substance on the area around the sensors, the 1-4 socket's pads and up to the
TUNE pots on the CONTROLS board and from 1-4 sockets to the ICs part on the both sides of
the MAIN board. Even a salty stain of dried water can be a problem. Leakage will cause some
of the voices to sound continuously, without being able to fully fade out to silence.

MAIN BOARD

HEF4093 NXP (SOIC-14) - The ICs influence the behaviour and the sound of the voices'
oscillators. There are specific required parameters for the ICs that can differ with different
manufacturers. We've included two proper ICs in the kit to be sure that the oscillators will work
correctly.

4093 BEAT - try to find Texas Instruments manufacturer for the IC. The IC influence behavior of
the LFO and the best result will be with Texas Instruments. But it's not so important as with 4093
Philips, so if you can't find TI 4093 use any other manufacturer.

Other 4093 - any type.

- leave it empty. Here resistors for decreasing of the sensors' sensitivity can
be installed if necessary. The range is 3 - 10 Mohm.
Ceramic capacitors may be any type that fit PCB: X7R, NPO, Y5V etc.

Metal film capacitors marked as MP on the MAIN PCB (0.47mMP for example). Use any
5.08mm pitch caps (polypropylene etc.)

All electrolytic capacitors - 16 volts or higher.

UNI 10mf in the BOM are nonpolar or unipolar electrolytic caps - the caps without plus and
minus. In the PCBs there are two groups of 4 that caps. It has no polarity marking on the PCB
(pure double circles around caps' pads).

For ones who love experiments, there are some possible tweaks in the tweaks.jpg.
There is V2.2 PCB on the picture. Some values are differ with the current version. Don't pay
attention please, places of parts for mods are correct.

installation of shields

The shields protect sensitive circuit areas from EM interference with other parts.

Use PLS as support pins.

Use UP holes for upper PCB part and DWN holes for lower one.

Install the shields on the bottom side of the main PCB after soldering of all other parts. Places
for installation - see PCBs/Place for shields.jpg
CONTROLS BOARD

Upper sensors must be insulated from the enclosure and any other conductive parts.

- place for an electrolytic capacitor

- place for a resistor

- place for a diode

- connect the switch's central pins to

the contact pads via 300 ohm
resistors

IN\OUT board

Distance between jacks - 30 mm.

You can use mono jacks instead of stereo if they fit the PCB.

Pay attention that CV VOICES socket use ground pins for automatic CV switching when a jack
plugged to the socket. It can be important if you would like to rearrange it to another socket's
type.

POWER SUPPLY

Use switched mode PSU with good stability, 12V 0.4A (minimum) required.

We would love to see your design of the Lyra. Please send us photos!

Have fun :)
