ABOVEGROUND RECEIVER/OVERFLOW TANK

The receiver tank from truck deliveries as designed has a capacity of 10m 3, although a

typical volume delivery of 9000 gallons (34.065m3) of diesel will be transferred per

delivery. The purpose of the tank is to be a staging unit that will pump up the fuel to the

main storage unit until the volume reaches a quarter or half of its total capacity. The

dimensions are decided by the designer himself since the standard tank dimensions for

aboveground tanks does not cover the capacity of the receiver (API lowest standard

capacity of 90m3, where the capacity of the receiver is only 10m 3). The tank will be

constructed in horizontal orientation.

For calculating the dimensions, an assumed diameter of 1.5m is used. The assumed

capacity is 10m3, that is;

For ullage of 30%, the length will be increased to 6m (10.6m 3 actual volume), which will

exceed the minimum requirement for ullage compliance (0.3m3).
