DPA version 18.1

Chapter 1: DPA version 18.1

Compatibility for DPA 18.1 is explained in this section.
This section contains the following topics:
 Installation requirements
 Software compatibility
 Hardware compatibility
 Replication Analysis

12 DPA Software Compatibility Guide

DPA version 18.1

Installation requirements
DPA Server platforms
Minimal memory requirements
 16 GB RAM/4 cores for the DPA Datastore server
 16 GB RAM/4 cores for the DPA Application Server
Minimal Hard Disk Drive requirements:
 20 GB of locally attached disk storage for the Application server
 30 GB of locally attached disk storage for the Datastore Server
 5GB of free space are required for database upgrade

Co-located Application and Datastore systems are not supported in production systems. Although the
installer provides a co-located system option, when it is selected, a dialogue stating that it is not
supported in a production systems displays.

 Storage size requirement for Datastore is highly dependent on expected data collection and retention
rates.
 The DPA Application server and DPA Datastore servers must not be used to run other applications.
The DPA Application server host and DPA Datastore server host resources must be dedicated to
DPA.
 If running DPA in a virtualized environment the allocated CPU and memory must be reserved for the
DPA servers
 The DPA installer has a free space soft threshold of 7892 MB and a hard threshold of 5844 MB. The
soft threshold allows the installation to continue, but the hard threshold does not.
 Automatic sizing and tuning of internal DPA resource usage takes place during installation. If
resources (CPU, Memory) are taken away from the installation by other applications performance of
DPA could be adversely affected.
 Operating systems:
 Support for 64-bit operating systems only
 Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2, 2012, 2012 R2 (x64 only), 2016
 Red Hat Linux ES/AS 6.0, 6.2, 6.4, 6.5 (64-bit), 6.8, 7, 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 7.4
Run the Update Agent (up2date) to ensure that the latest operating system patches are installed
 SUSE Linux 12 x86 (64-bit)
Run the Update Agent (up2date) to ensure that the latest operating system patches are installed
libaio is recommended to be installed on the system and available in the system
LD_LIBRARY_PATH for performance gains

Installation requirements 13
DPA version 18.1

DPA Data Collection Agent platforms

The DPA Data Collection Agents require a minimum of 100 MB on Red Hat and SUSE Linux and
Windows, and 200 MB on AIXand HPUX of free hard disk space for agent process. The DPA Data
Collection Agents also require 2 GB of free hard disk space for log files and the pfile data store.
 AIX 6.1, 7.1 (Power)
 Install the bos.perf.libperfstat 6.1.9.45 (TL9) or higher file set to gather
performance statistics
 HP-UX 11i v3 (IA-64)
 Microsoft Windows Server all versions run on 64-bit only: 2008, 2008 R2, 2012, 2012 R2, 2016
 Install the latest operating system service packs
 WMI must be installed to gather performance data on Windows hosts
 Red Hat Linux 5.5, 6.0, 6.2, 6.4, 6.5 (32-bit and 64-bit), 6.8, 7, 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 7.4
 Run the Update Agent (up2date) to ensure that the latest operating system patches are installed
 libaio is recommended to be installed on the system and available in the system
LD_LIBRARY_PATH for performance gains
 Solaris 10, 11 SPARC (64-bit) or 10, 11 (x86_64)
 Requires a minimum of an UltraSPARC III CPU or x86 64-bit CPU
 Requires GNU tar before executing the DPA installerInstall Solaris patch cluster
 libaio is recommended to be installed on the system and available in the system
LD_LIBRARY_PATH for performance gains
 Disk Status requests are only supported on Solaris hosts running kernel 2.6 or later on SCSI disks
 Tape Drive Performance system data applies only to Solaris hosts
 SUSE Linux 11, 12 (32-bit and 64-bit)
 libaio is recommended to be installed on the system and available in the system
LD_LIBRARY_PATH for performance gains

Troubleshooting tools
Supported troubleshooting tools are:
EMC Secure Remote Support Gateway 3.0.4 and later (ESRS-VE)

Internet communication security protocols

DPA installations require Transport Layer Security (TLS) v 1.2 or later.

Web browsers
Java is part of the distribution for DPA back-end component use. There are no Java version requirements
for the browser or web console.
