Profile
Prof. Dr. M. Najam-ul-Haq received his early education from Govt. Emerson College Multan,
Pakistan. He got his MSc and M Phil degree in the subject of Chemistry with specialization in
Analytical Chemistry from the Department of Chemistry, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad,
Pakistan. He joined Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, Pakistan in 1999 as Lecturer in
Analytical Chemistry. He left for his PhD in 2003 from University of Innsbruck, Austria on the
Higher Education Commission (HEC) scholarship. He was awarded PhD degree on the thesis
topic, "Development of Carbon Nanomaterials for Protein Immobilization and Profiling by
MALDI-MS" under the supervision of renowned separation scientist, Professor Dr. Guenther K.
Bonn. He returned to Pakistan in 2007 and resumed his duties at the Department of Chemistry,
B. Z. University and was selected as Assistant Professor in 2008 and subsequently as Associate
Professor of Analytical Chemistry in 2010. He went for the Post-Doc in 2013 awarded by
Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research (BMWF) and carried out research on
"Development of Selective Enrichment and Desalting Methodologies based on Nano- and Micro-
Materials of Varying Properties and the Subsequent Analysis by MALDI-MS". He was
appointed as Chairman, Department of Biochemistry in 2015. He became Professor of Analytical
Chemistry also in the year 2015. He has supervised 05 PhDs and 45 MPhil research students. He
has participation in the academic administrative bodies of the university; Chairman, Board of
Studies in Biochemistry; Member Board of Studies in Chemistry; Member Board of Faculty
(University Engineering College, BZU); Member Board of Faculty (Science); Member
Academic Council; Member Senate; Member Advanced Studies & Research Board; Chairman –
Admission Committee, Department of Biochemistry and Member/Secretary – PhD Synopsis
Evaluation Committee, Institute of Chemical Sciences. He has published 77 research papers in
impact factor research journals of international repute with accumulative impact factor of above
200. He has 02 International Patents and 01 Book Chapter by John Wiley & Sons to his credit.
His research articles has been cited more than 1478 times (source: Google Scholar) in the
scientific literature with h-index of 20 and i10-index of 35. His research articles of the research
accomplished in B. Z. University have continuously been included in Nature Indexing for the
last 05 years. He is also the HEC Approved PhD Supervisor. He is member Chemical Society of
Pakistan. He has attended more than 50 International and National Conferences and presented 32
posters in various conferences. He has won HEC Outstanding Research Awards 03 times for the
research published in the years 2012 (Silica-Lanthanum Oxide - Pioneer Composite of Rare
Earth Metal Oxide in Selective Phosphopeptides Enrichment) and 2013/2014 (Newly Developed
Poly(Allyl Glycidyl Ether/Divinyl Benzene) Polymer for Phosphopeptides Enrichment and
Desalting of Biofluids & Growth of a Highly Porous Coordination Polymer on a Macroporous
Polymer Monolith Support for Enhanced Immobilized Metal Ion Affinity Chromatographic
Enrichment of Phosphopeptides). He has won Research Productivity Award (RPA) from
Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), Pakistan, for the year 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and
2014. He has worked/working on 06 Research Funding Projects awarded by Higher Education
Commission (HEC) and B. Z. University. He is Member – Editorial Board, Journal of Research
(Science) BZU and reviewer of high impact factor Journals including ACS Applied Materials &
Interfaces (ACS), Biomedical Chromatography (Wiley), Scientific Reports (Nature), Analytical
Chemistry (ACS), International Journal of Analytical Chemistry (Hindawi) and Analytical
Methods (RSC).
