Terms & Conditions

The event is open to all management graduate students to


participate in a 2 phase research contest.

Participants are required to plan and conduct a research, focused


towards marketing strategies (STP, 4P and 4C etc), not Advertizing
and Promotion strategies.

Participants need to address any 1 of the 3 following research


requirements to define proper research objective and plan further :

Perform a detailed SWOT analysis for uni-ball brand and suggest


gaps in the market to focus its strategies on.

Define brand personality of uni-ball viz-a-viz competition and


suggest target consumer base (demographic as well psychographic
profile) for promotion activities.

Based on selected target group, rank different communication tools


(TV, Print, online, BTL etc) on effectiveness parameters for uni-ball
brand.

A team must consist of at least 2 participants – at least one from 1st


year and at least one from 2nd year batch and maximum of 4
members in a team.

All participants in a team have to be from the same Institute.

Any team or individual cannot be a part of more than 1 entry. Each


entry involving any such duplication is liable for disqualification.

There is no restriction on the number of teams participating from the


same institute.
In submission of reports- the cover page should include the names
of the team members, college of the team members, name of the
team and mail ids of team members.

The name of the author or the institute should not appear anywhere
in the body of the paper or the abstract. Appearance of the same will
lead to disqualification

Acknowledgement of receipt of the soft copies would be sent within


24 hours of receipt of the report at each stage.

The criteria for short listing will include: understanding of the topic,
depth of analysis and research, reasoning behind planning and
clarity of objective.

The company Linc Pen and Plastics ltd reserves an unconditional


right, on behalf of uni- Mitsubishi Pencil Co, to disqualify an entry or
cancel the participation of a team for any reason including
presentation of inaccurate data/incomplete information, plagiarism,
late submission, violation of any intellectual property, or any other
reason.

Important Dates

Launching Date : 18th September 2010

Research plan and category analysis submission ends on : 10th


October 2010

Results of Phase-1 to be declared on : 18th October 2010


Submission of detailed research report ends on : 21st November
2010

Final result to be declared on : 29th November 2010

Phase - 1 :

In this phase, participating teams will be submitting their analysis of


writing instrument category, a well defined research objective and
methodology planning with reasoning.

The last date of submitting the analysis would be 10th October 2010

Research plan should consist of 6 slides (need to be submitted in pdf


format) as per following structure-

3 slides on understanding and analyzing the category

3 slides stating ‘clearly defined research objective’ and methodology


with proper reasoning

All information regarding Uniball products are available on website


and can be downloaded.

Result of phase-1 will be announced on our website on 18th October.

25 teams will be selected for Phase-2. Only 1 team from an institute


would qualify for phase 2.
Selected teams will have to confirm their participation for Phase-2
by 20th October

Waitlisted teams, if selected, will be intimated by e-mail by 22nd


October 2010. They will be required to confirm participation by 24th
October 2010.

Phase - 2 :

The selected teams for this phase will be required to upload their
detailed research report on the website portal by 21st November
2010.

Final report should be prepared in- Times New Roman font size 12
pt. with 1.5 line spacing, 1” margin on all four sides; need to be
submitted in pdf format. Report should not be of more than 10 pages
or approximately 5000 words excluding annexure.

The waitlisted teams, if selected, will be required to submit their


complete research report by 25th November 2010.Final Results
would be declared on the website on 29th November.

PRIZE

Out of the 25 selected contestants, top 3 teams would be entitled for


the following cash prizes:
Winning Team: Rs 25000/-

1st runner up: Rs 15000/-

2nd runner up: Rs 10000/-

The first year students of the 3 winning teams would also be given a
SUMMER PLACEMENT OFFER. In case they choose not to accept the
offer, 1st year student from the next ranked team will be given the
offer and so on.

All 25 contestants (all members in the team) selected for Phase-2


would be entitled to receive a certificate of appreciation and freebies
from the company for participating in the Research Contest.
