1030-1130 hrs Inaugural Session

Indian Railways has set itself a vision to transform Indian
Railways to a truly world class, safe and modern transporter. The
key plans to achieve the vision include electrification of 33,000 kms
of route by 2020, conversion of 10,000 km of trunk routes into high-
speed corridors and under ‘Zero-accident Mission’, a complete
overhaul of the signalling and electrification network. During the
session Ministry of Railways would share the evolving vision for the
sector and emerging opportunities for Industry. The session would
also deliberate on industry readiness to cater to the requirements
and various innovative financing models to fun the projects.
1145-1245 hrs Plenary Session I: Mission Electrification

Mission Electrification, a strategic shift for Railways aims to reduce

the dependence on imported fossil fuels and reduce both overall
energy consumption and carbon emissions. Electrification of
33,000 kms of route by 2020 with an investment of about Rs.
12,600 crores offer massive opportunities for the industry. The
session would deliberate on the ecosystem required to achieve the
vision, roadmap for phasing out of diesel locomotives,
opportunities for Indian industry and Industry’s readiness to meet
the requirements.

1245-1330 hrs Plenary Session II: Track Renewal and Upgradation

Around 40 percent of Indian Railways’ line sections are utilised

beyond 100 percent. IR had undertaken track renewal work for
3,600 km in 2017-18 and has set an ambitious target of replacing
3,900 km of tracks in 2018-19. With an overdue plan of accelerated
renewal of tracks, ensuring clearance of backlogs in future needs
to be given priority. The session would deliberate on the
opportunities for industry and industry preparedness to achieve the
vision.

1415-1515 hrs Plenary Session III: ‘Mission Raftaar’-Semi & High-Speed

Corridors

Ministry of Railways is envisaging conversion of 10,000 km of trunk

routes into high-speed corridors with an investment of Rs. 20 Lakh
crores spread out over a period of 10 years, with average annual
capacity upgrade and expansion outlay of Rs 2 lakh crore.
The Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail (MAHSR) corridor will be
India's first high-speed rail line to be completed by 2020. The
session would deliberate on future requirements of requisite rolling
stock, opportunities for Indian industry, indigenization of High
speed rail technologies and requirement of training & skills.

1515-1615 hrs Plenary Session IV: Zero Accident Mission: Signalling and
Telecom

Under ‘Zero-accident Mission’, a complete overhaul of the

signalling and electrification network is planned at an estimated
cost of Rs 60,000 crore that will help in enhancing the train
frequency to every 6-7 minutes. Significant growth potential
underlies in the signalling sector for products, systems and
services. A resilient frame work for approval and localization of
proven signalling technology products as per the spirit of “Make in
India “and skill India” policies has to be put in place. The session
would deliberate on the future requirements and plan to meet
those.

1630-1715 hrs Valedictory Session

Railways has been a priority sector for the present Government.

Being the most energy efficient and cheap land transport,
development of Railways would be one of the key facets to achieve
the Hon’ble Prime Minister vision of New India by 2022. The
session would deliberate on strategies to align the priorities and
focus areas of Indian Railways with the initiatives planned to realise
the vision of transforming Indian Economy by 2022.
