Engineering 447/547

Spring 2019

CATALOG DATA CBE 447/547 Advanced Transport phenomena (3.0). Overview of mo-
mentum, heat and mass transfer processes, the analogies, differential and macro-
scopic balances, applications involving molecular diffusion, including simultane-
ous mass transfer and chemical reaction.
LECTURES 11:10-12.25 pm Tues. and Thus., DO 517
INSTRUCTOR Prof. Manolis Doxastakis,
E-mail: edoxasta@utk.edu ,
Office: 328 Dougherty, walk-in policy or appointment.
VALUE The class will present a unified treatment of momentum transport (fluid flow), en-
PROPOSITION ergy transport (heat conduction, convection, and radiation), and mass transport
(diffusion). Material covered is a fundamental basis of transport phenomena and
momentum transport (viscous, viscoelastic, and potential flows) in the chemical
industry.
TEACHING Mr. Travis Law, (tlaws@vols.utk.edu)
ASSISTANTS Office: 317 Dougherty, Office Hours at 314 Dougherty, Friday 2pm-4pm.
