Subject: General Guidelines and Reminders for 1st Youth Empowerment Summit

Greetings to all the Local Chapters of the Happiest Region!

The memorandum is written to formally announce the general guidelines and reminders for the
1st Youth Empowerment Summit (YES) for the Federation Year 2018-2019.

GENERAL GUIDELINES AND REMINDERS

Background

Youth Empowerment Summit is the new brand of Leadership Training that is filled with practical
tools that will help leaders create a more effective team. It is designed to provide leaders with skills
to maximize the performance and organizational structure of their own Local Chapter. The
teambuilding activities aims to develop good working relationships between all leaders within the
region by allowing them to experience working with leaders from different Local Chapters, to
nurture shared problem solving and generating new ideas and to introduce process so that they
work effectively together to achieve common goals. With this clarity of the ladder of teambuilding
objective, this YES aim to have a much better chance of developing effective teams within the
respective Local Chapters of the participants. There are also technical sessions that will nurture the
knowledge of these young leaders as they lead their Local Chapters in the whole federation year.
This will be also a venue for the establishment of the unified NFJPIA-R3 leaders. Also, various
technical sessions will be held coming in different strands such as Economic, Political, Socio-
Cultural, Leadership & Effective Management, to be able to equip leaders of every Local Chapter
in Region 3 with the relevant information and knowledge with regards to the current state of our
country.

Theme

The Youth Empowerment Summit “1st Y.E.S: The Region’s Gems” shall adopt a Gemstone theme
set-up. To their limits and unleash the potentials they have as JPIAn leaders as they interact with
their co-JPIAns. This two-day event consists of various technical sessions, mental and physical
activities, challenges and group tasks that develop each participant’s skills and unlock the
potentials they have within themselves.
YES 2018 indeed, shall be a question of how will JPIAn leaders face their fears, instill them
awareness to the current issues of our society and be a voice of the present, conquer their
weaknesses and strengthen their capabilities to become a better leader and to realize the things
truly needed to be able to serve their co- JPIAns.

Who Can Attend

Local Chapter Presidents, together with their Vice President for Academics and Vice President for
Non-Academics are highly encouraged to attend the Leadership Training Seminar. There shall be
five (5) slots reserved for each Local Chapter. Local Chapters can bid up to 12 delegates
(excluding the adviser/moderator), provided: bids are communicated through email
(accomplished Delegates’ Masterlist) and sent to the Regional Vice President for
Communications at nfjpia1819.r3rvpcommunications@gmail.com not later than July 5, 2018
(Thursday).

Date

The 1st Youth Empowerment Summit shall be held on June 21-22, 2018 (Saturday – Sunday).

Kabaleyan Cove Resort in Magtaking Bridge, Malasiqui - San Carlos Rd, San Carlos City,
Pangasinan

1. Ride a BUS going to San Carlos

3. From there, a 2 minute walk going to the Malasiqui-Bayambang Terminal
4. Ride a jeep and drop by at Kevin’s Sea Food Restaurant near Magtaking Elementary School.
5. A 2 to 5 minute walk from there you’ll reach Kabaleyan Cove Resort.

Requirements

1. Local Chapter heads/representatives shall submit the Delegates’ Masterlist to the Regional Vice
President for Communications at nfjpia1819.r3rvpcommunications@gmail.com on or before
July 5, 2018 (Thursday). The file name shall be named using the format below:
nfjpiar3_1819_YES Masterlist_Local Chapter.xlsx

Example: nfjpiar3_1819_YES Masterlist_Limay Polytechnic College.xlsx

2. The YES Packet includes a copy of a waiver that must be signed by the participants’ parents or
guardians evidencing that they shall not hold the organizers/officers/adviser and/or school
responsible for any untoward occurrence beyond their control.
Things to Bring

The following shall be secured or brought upon the Youth Empowerment Summit:

1. Delegates’ accomplished waivers to be submitted by the Local Chapter heads/representative


upon the registration. We will strictly implement the “NO WAIVER, NO YES” policy.
2. Comfortable clothes. The participants shall bring clothes good for two-days and extra clothes (if
necessary). The participants shall bring white shirt preferable plain white shirt for the
teambuilding activities.
3. Long handkerchief or bandana for blindfolded activities.
4. Toiletries, towels and articles for personal hygiene.
5. Notebook and writing materials.
6. Medicines (if needed, or for emergency purposes).
7. A Zesto tetra pack box covered in a design of your choice with the name of your local chapter
written on the outside. This is only per Local Chapter, not per delegate.

Code of Conduct

Disciplinary actions shall be imposed whenever a YES participant commits or attempts to commit
any act of misconduct onsite, or at any activity, function or event sponsored or supervised by the
Regional Council. Acts and misconduct include but not limited to:

1. Smoking and drinking (and possession) of liquors and alcohols


2. Possession, use or distribution of any illegal or controlled substance, or look-alike drug
3. Possession of fire arms and weapons (e.g., knife)
4. Intentional or willful and wanton destruction of any venue property
5. Assault and/or battery
6. Conduct that contributes harassment or abuse that threatens the mental well-being health or
safety of any individual

Participants seen and identified this code of conduct shall automatically be barred from joining the
YES activities. In addition, the participants shall be held liable to any damages in the venue
properties or injury to organizers, resort employees and other YES participants.

Registration Fee

The YES Registration fee (excluding transportation expense) shall be Php 2,500.00 per
participant. This amount shall cover accommodation, meals, Insurance , kits, and certificates.
Payment scheme shall be as follows:

July 9, 2018 (Monday) - 50% down payment (P1, 250)


July 16, 2018 (Monday) - 30% 2nd installment (P750)
July 21, 2018 (Saturday) - remaining 20% balance to settle (P500)
The Regional Vice President for Finance shall send the Billing Form to the Local Chapter based
on the Delegate’s Masterlist submitted to NFJPIA-R3.

Payments of Local Chapters made through bank should only be deposited on NFJPIA-R3
Council’s official bank account as follows:

Payments through bank accounts other than the official bank account of NFJPIA-R3 shall NOT
be recognized.

Submit a copy of the deposit slip to the Regional Vice President for Finance through
nfjpia1819.r3rvpfinance@gmail.com once a payment has been made to identify the payment
made through bank. Scanned image or photo of the deposit slip with the filename following this
format:
