Bible Text: Luke 1:71-75

Why do we need to enter into covenant with God? Our scriptural text gives us the answer – “That we
should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us; to perform the mercy
promised to our fathers, and to remember His holy covenant; the oath which He sware to our father
Abraham, that He would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies
might serve him without fear.”

What is a Covenant? A Covenant is an agreement between two or more people to do a certain

thing under a certain condition. There must be condition(s) and purpose for a covenant to be
operational. A covenant is usually between two unequal people; for instance, The Mighty God and
we weak human beings; a rich person and a poor person, and a strong master and a servant. In a
covenant, the power of the greater becomes transferred to the smaller. You become a god by
entering into covenant with God.

Why do I Need to Enter into a Covenant Agreement with God?

1. Help comes faster for you. Divine intervention comes faster for a covenant partner.
2. A covenant puts an end to suffering in your life. A covenant partner helps to provide assistance in
any struggle.
3. The power of the strong is made available to the weak.
4. God does not break covenant. Ps 89:35, Deut. 29:9.

How do I Enter into a Covenant Agreement with God (2 Chron. 15:5-15)

1. You need to encourage yourself. 2 Chron. 15:8
2. You need to put away abominable idols. 2 Chron. 15:8
3. You need to repair your altar. Your prayer life is your altar. No prayer no covenant. 2 Chron. 15:8
4. You must offer several sacrifices to God to support your covenant. 2 Chron. 15:10-11
5. You need to serve Him in truth. The children of Israel entered into covenant agreement that they
will serve God all the days of their lives.
