ARB Evidence Form

Alternative Evidence Form


Under certain circumstances the Board will consider evidence other than an IELTS certificate. This evidence will not be
considered if you have already taken the IELTS test and failed to achieve the required scores.

The table below, sets out the circumstances where we will consider alternative evidence and the table identifies the alternative
evidence you are required to provide. Please do note the Board will only consider the evidence that is set out below.

Please ensure you sign and date the form confirming you have provided the necessary evidence below.

Circumstances Evidence Requirements

Part 1 An original letter or certificate from the institution/school


where you qualified to confirm:
You have at Part 1 level completed a qualification entitling you
access to the prescribed Part 1 examination, which was taught
a) All elements of the course were taught and examined
and examined solely in English
solely in English

and
b) The date you passed your degree

You have completed your degree during the last five years
and
before applying for the Prescribed Examination
A sworn statement made by you to confirm that you
have not taken the IELTS test before*

Part 2 An original letter or certificate from the institution/school


where you qualified to confirm:
You have at Part 2 level completed a qualification entitling you
access to the prescribed Part 2 examination, which has been
a) All elements of the course were taught and examined
taught and examined solely in English
solely in English
and
b) The date you passed your degree
you have undertaken a course of study at first degree level
and
which was taught and examined solely in English
A sworn statement made by you to confirm that you
or
have not taken the IELTS test before*
you have undertaken at least five years of study at degree level
which was taught and examined solely in English

and

You have completed your second degree during the last five
years before applying for the Prescribed Examination.

*A Sworn Statement in the presence of a solicitor or Notary Public


ARB Evidence Declaration

Please note that the prescribed examination leads to registration under Section 4 of the Architects Act
1997, and any false or fraudulent representation or declaration made intentionally is an offence under
Section 7 of the Act and a fine may be payable upon conviction.
