ABSTRACT
Background: Every surgery such as Caesarean section would cause pain that will
cause disruption in activity, discomfort from pain can be overcome by
pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods. One non-pharmacological
method that can be applied is a deep breath relaxation technique. Relaxing will
cause a decrease in adrenal hormones and sympathetic nerve activity to cause a
sense of calm, besides that it can relax muscle tension and suppress the perception
of pain so that the body becomes more relaxed. The purpose of this study was to
determine the effect of giving deep breath relaxation techniques to decrease pain
scale in post partum mothers with sectio caesarea.
Methods: This research used a quasy experimental design with the pre test and
post test control group design approach. Sampling was done by purposive
sampling technique with a total sample of 28 people who were then divided into
intervention groups and control groups.
Results: Based on the results of the research with Wilcoxon statistical test results
obtained showed the value of ρ = 0,000 (ρ <0.05), this means that there is an
effect of providing deep breathing relaxation techniques to reduce pain scale in
post partum mothers with sectio caesarea, which before breath relaxation
techniques were given in most respondents with moderate pain levels of 10 people
(71.4%), after being given breathing relaxation techniques in most respondents in
a state of mild pain amounting to 8 people (57.1%).
