In this paper, an efficient anti-collision protocol, named collision tree protocol (CT), is proposed,

and a collision tree is put forward to capture the complete communications between the reader
and tags in an execution of CT. The main novelty of CT is that both the generating of prefixes and
the splitting of tag group are according to the collided bit directly. Both the propertiesof collision
tree and theresults of experiments show that the proposed protocol improves the efficiency of
tags identification up to 50% and achieves the best performance of the tree-based tags
identification protocols.

The problem of tag identification arises when the number of tags present in the realm of a
single RFID reader is large. The response from the tags can collide thus cancelling each other
leading to delays, wastage of power and bandwidth. The objective of our work is to propose a
novel anti-collision protocol for RFID system which supports high speed detection with high
accuracy in a multiaccess communication system.

Radio frequency identification (RFID) systems are becoming ubiquitous. Simultaneous

transmissions in RFID systems lead to collisions as the readers and tags typically operate on the
same channel. Therefore, anti-collision protocol is very important for solving the collision
problem in RFID application system. This paper analyzes the primary anti-collision protocols for
tags can collide thus cancelling each other leading to solving the collision problem in RFID tag
identification, especially a novel and efficient anti-collision protocol, named collision tree
protocol (CT), which stands for a new branch of tree-based anti-collision protocol for RFID tag
identification.

The growing concern in tracking, identification and localization systems has turn Radio
Frequency Identification (RFID) technology into a mainstream in scientific research. In this
technology, the phenomena known as the tag collision problem is becoming increasingly
important, since it leads to a wastage of bandwidth, energy, and an increase in identification
delay. Therefore, anti-collision protocols are required to mitigate collisions.
