People often say, 'Mooji, I had this awakening in 1997 and it was so beautiful and complete. For
two days, there was so much peace, but then it went.'
But this one who had the awakening is who or what exactly?
This one can never actually awaken, for during the awakening experience this 'one' was not
there. It is the temporary absence of this one that was replaced as and by the pure Self.
Awakening means:
You, personally, are not anymore there. Yourself impersonally is here always.
But while we, the impersonal consciousness Self, are identified with this 'person' identity, we
become the 'person' and are then afraid to lose it, meaning: losing our self personally.
While we are in the state of hypnosis, believing our self to be the 'person' costume, the person is
all we seem to know our self to be. What will be there in its place should it go? But this is only
the person's imagination. And remember: the person is itself imagined.
When the person is blasted and exposed as a myth, what remains is total clarity, contentment,
total joy, silence and peace.
Then you say, 'If I had realised just how beautiful and natural the Self is, this old self would have
been given up and gone a long time ago.'

Nisargadatta Maharaj
Having never left the house you are looking for the way home.
If you can produce a perfect state of calmness in concentration and meditation, you will be able
to solve deep problems. If you hold onto calmness that comes after meditation, then you will be
guided aright. Intuition guides your reason. When you have developed intuition, you will stand
firm in your knowledge, though the universe rise up to defeat you. Whenever you want to solve a
problem intuitively, first go into deep meditation or silence. Do not think of your problem during
meditation, but meditate until you feel a sense of calmness filling the inner recesses of your
body, and your breath becomes calm and quiet. Then ask God to direct your intuition so that you
may know what you should do.

There's nothing to say about it. There are no speeches to make about ‘I AM’. There is only ‘I
AM’.
When you say ‘I’AM to yourself, what happens? Isn't there a quietness that comes over you, a
stillness, because another name for ‘I AM’ is Silence.
Now you see what I mean when I've told you all these times, you follow the ‘I’ to the heart. As
you follow the ‘I’ to the heart you're going through the molecules, and the atoms, and the sub-
atomic particles, going deeper and deeper, back to your Source. Back, back, to the Source, to the
energy waves, to the void, and finally your entire body is totally dissolved and Consciousness
stands alone.
When I say Consciousness stands alone, I do not mean that Consciousness is something else
from you. You have not died; you are just the way you were always. You're the same person,
except something wonderful has happened to you. You realize with all your heart, with all your
soul, with all your being, that you never were the body or the mind.

Your own self is your ultimate teacher. The outer teacher is merely a milestone. It is your inner teacher
that will walk with you to the goal, for it is the goal.

Whatever you come up with, it's not that, until you're completely empty. It's like emptying out a
garbage can. As long as you keep turning it back over, the garbage will stay in. You've got to
hold it upside down until all the garbage falls out.
So, we've got a lot of samskaras, past tendencies, karma. All that's got to go. So we empty
everything out so there's nothing left. (SG: Stay upside down.) Stay upside down. Then you
become free. It's really simple. It's not complicated. But if you remember the principles it helps
you. That's all I've got to say. Questions?
See those of us who come here are tired of playing mind games. We want to become free and
you become free by not wanting to become free. It's just abiding in the Self.
~ Mooji
Before you can say ‘I am’, you must be there to say it. Being need not be self-conscious. You
need not know to be, but you must ‘be’ to know.

“Everybody complains of the restlessness of the mind. Let the mind be found and then they will know.
True, when a man sits down to meditate thoughts rush up by dozens. The mind is only a bundle of
thoughts. The attempt to push through the barrage of thoughts is unsuccessful. If one can by any means
abide in the Self it is good. For those who are unable to do so, chanting or meditation is prescribed. It is
like giving a piece of chain to an elephant...
