Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
A. Daily Routine
1. Prayer
Josephine kindly lead the prayer.
Let us bow our head and feel the presence of the lord.
In the name of the father, the son, the holy spirit,
amen…
2. Cleaning

Before you take your seat, kindly pick up the

pieces of trash and arrange your chairs.
(student clean their area)
Okay class, you may now take your seat and set
back and relax.
3. Greetings
Good morning, class!
Good morning, sir!
4. Checking of Attendance
Renalyn, last meeting I assigned you to monitor
the class attendance, may I know who are the
absent today?
Sir, there is no absent today!
Very good! We have a perfect attendance.
Let us clap ourselves.
Students clap
B. Review
Last meeting, we discuss about vertical and
horizontal in multiplying polynomials.
Okay class, let’s try this one on your sit.

1. (𝑥 2 − 5) (3x +2)
2. 3𝑥 3 + 2𝑥 − 2
x 𝑥 2 + 5𝑥 − 4
3. 4x + 16
x 𝑥 3 − 4𝑥 2 − 12𝑥 − 2
4. (5𝑥 3 + 2𝑥 2 − 𝑥 − 3) (x + 4)
5. (3𝑥 + 3)(5𝑥 − 15)

Let us check.
1. (𝑥 2 − 5) (3x +2)
= 𝑥 2 (3𝑥 + 2) − 5(3𝑥 + 2)
=3𝑥 3 + 2𝑥 2 − 15𝑥 − 10
2. 3𝑥 3 + 2𝑥 − 2
x 𝑥 2 + 5𝑥 − 4
3𝑥 5 + 2𝑥 3 − 2𝑥 2

4. (5𝑥 + 2𝑥 − 𝑥 − 3) (x + 4)
= x (5𝑥 3 + 2𝑥 2 − 𝑥 − 3) +4(5𝑥 3 + 2𝑥 2 − 𝑥 − 3)
=5𝑥 4 + 2𝑥 3 − 𝑥 2 − 3𝑥 + 20𝑥 3 + 8𝑥 2 − 4𝑥 − 12
=5𝑥 4 + 22𝑥 3 + 7𝑥 2 − 7𝑥 − 12
5. (3𝑥 + 3)(5𝑥 − 15)
= 3x(5𝑥 − 15)+3(5𝑥 − 15)
=15𝑥 2 − 45𝑥 + 15𝑥 − 45
=15𝑥 2 − 30𝑥 − 45

Very good!
It seems that you clearly understand the topic.
Okay class, let’s have a game!
C. Motivation
The name of the game is “pass it to me”, where in
all of the member must participate. The mechanics
of the game is that each member will answer the
problem and the group who is first to finish and got
the correct answer will be the winner.
This class will be divided in to two.
Okay class fall in line.

Problem to be answer:
(3𝑥 2 − 4𝑥 + 1) (𝑥 2 − 3𝑥 − 2)
Solve it vertically!
3𝑥 2 − 4𝑥 + 1
x 𝑥 2 − 3𝑥 − 2
3𝑥 4 − 4𝑥 3 + 𝑥 2
−9𝑥 3 + 12𝑥 2 − 3𝑥
−6𝑥 2 + 8𝑥 − 2
3𝑥 4 − 13𝑥 3 + 7𝑥 2 − 5𝑥 − 2
D. Presentation
Our lesson for today is all about the lattice method
of multiplying polynomials, but before we proceed
to the discussion all of you must be able to achieve
this one.
Kindly read.
1. Define the lattice method of multiplying
polynomials,
2. Solve the polynomials using the lattice
method, and
3. Appreciate the importance of following the
steps.
Lattice method is a mathematical procedure in
multiplying polynomials in one variable. This
method makes use of the numerical coefficient of
the two polynomial factors.

Let’s have an example

(3𝑥 2 − 4𝑥 + 1) (𝑥 2 − 3𝑥 − 2)

E. Activity
Okay class, go to your group and answer the
problem that will be given to you.
You have 10 minutes to do that.

Group 1
(2𝑥 2 − 6𝑥 + 3) (𝑥 2 + 10 + 5)
Group 2
(𝑥 2 + 2𝑥 + 3) (6𝑥 2 − 3𝑥 − 8)
Group 3
(x - 9) (2𝑥 2 + 𝑥 − 3)
Group 4
(𝑥 4 − 2𝑥 3 + 3𝑥 2 − 5) (3x + 7)

After 10 minutes.
Time is up.
Okay class, choose a representative to present your
output.
F. Analysis
Okay class present your output to the class.
Group 1
Group 2

Group 3

Group 4

Very good, let’s give ourselves a clap.

Is there any question? None sir!

Very good!
G. Abstraction
What is again the method of multiplying
polynomials?
Sir, lattice method of multiplying polynomials
What is lattice method?
Sir, Lattice Method is a mathematical procedure in
multiplying polynomials in one variable. This method
makes use of the numerical coefficient of the two
polynomial factors.
How is it done?
Sir, create a table but depends on the number of the
polynomials if it is a 3x3 or 2x4 and etc. then draw a
diagonal on every cell and put the coefficient on the
upper part and 0 on the lower part. And multiply the
coefficient then sum up it diagonally.
Very well said!
H. Application
Did you find the method helpful?
Yes, sir!
In what way?
We could be able to come up with the right solution
and correct answer by just simply following the
instruction.
Yes, very good!
I. Value Integration
By just simply following the instruction, we could be
able to find the answer.
With that idea, we can apply it to the real life
setting.
Can you give some example that can you relate to
our daily living?
Sir, by following the recipe when we are cooking.
Very good!
How about you, Salvador?
Sir, by asking for direction when we are lost.
Very good!
More idea?
Sir, when we are taking the exam we must read the
instruction and follow it.
Very good!
There are so much things to apply, but in this lesson,
this is actually a simple problem but give a great
impact, because we cannot be able to come up with
the correct answer if we don’t follow the instruction
or the process. In following the instruction, you
could be able to achieve of what you want to
achieve in a step by step process, because you
cannot take two at a time.

Is there any question?

None, sir!
Since there is no question, I could not tell if you
really learn the topic by not just making hypothesis,
so to prove my theory, we will have an activity.
IV. Evaluation
Get 1⁄2 sheet of paper and solve the following.
And you have 10 minutes to do that. Is that
clear?
Yes, sir.
Answer the following polynomials using the
lattice method.

1. (3x + 7) (-2x +3)

2. (4x + 5) (-4x + 2)
3. (3𝑥 2 + 4𝑥 − 7) (𝑥 2 − 2𝑥 + 8)
4. (x + 3) (𝑥 3 − 2𝑥 2 + 8)
5. (𝑥 3 + 3𝑥 2 − 3𝑥 − 2)(4𝑥 4 + 4𝑥 3 + 𝑥 2 + 3)

Time is up, pass your paper to the front and to

the center aisle.
Let us check.
1.

2.
3.

4.

5.

V. Assignments
Get your assignment notebook and write this
one.
Solve for the quotient of the given polynomials:
𝑥 3 +16𝑥 2 −4𝑥+2
1. 𝑥+2
𝑥 2 +10𝑥+5
2. 𝑥−5
4𝑥 4 −32𝑥 3 +20𝑥2 +16𝑥+8
3. 2𝑥 2 −4𝑥+2

Let’s call it a day, good bye class!

Good bye sir, thank you for teaching us!
