What is a semiconductor?

Its material which has conductivity between conductor and

insulter.

Conductivity is reciprocal of resistivity =10-6to 103 S/cm.

But do only conductivity values specify any material as semiconductor? No.

Conductivity can be changed by orders of material

 By doping
 By temperature
 By illumination of light with appropriate wavelength

The above reason that conductivity can be changed in semiconductor, has made it so
much important.
