SPEECH

CLOSING CEREMONY
JUNE 24, 2018, MALL OF ASIA ARENA, PASAY CITY
MAYOR LANI MERCADO REVILLA

MLMR:

(Amenities)

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen.

After three full days of exhibitions, parades, and competitions, we have finally come to a
culmination in the first-ever (and hoping not the last) Bacoor International Music Championships.

We take pride in what we have achieved in this undertaking. Gathering marching bands from all
over the Philippines, and for this year, 11 bands from other countries, putting them together in three
venues, having them experience the love for music of our countrymen, and how our local festival, or fiesta,
goes.

The competition was indeed tough, but this does not mean that the non-winners would go empty
handed. The experience, the new friends and connections made, the new learnings the participating
groups have acquired—both competing and non-competing—are more than the awards they will receive.
So, a big congratulations is in order for our participating groups!

Likewise, and as we have been sharing the past days, this will not take place if not for the hard
work put by our Congressman Strike Revilla, along with Senator Bong Revilla, in making the City of Bacoor
the Marching Band Capital of the Philippines. With this achievement we have in the Bacoor International
Music Championships, it is more than worthy to have been bestowed that title.

To our counterparts at the Asia Marching Band Confederation and the Winter Guard
International, we thank you for allowing us to host the international championships and assisting us in
making this event a success.

To the organizing team, who is the backbone of the three-day event, and the pre-events and
preparations that we have, thank you very much.
To the sponsors who believed in this project, thank you very much for your contribution and
support. This really helped us in carrying out this project.

To everyone who has supported and watch in the past three days, we do hope you enjoyed, and
more than that, got inspired with what these bands had to offer—their talent coupled with discipline,
teamwork, and hardwork. Basic values we should aspire for.

Again, my sincerest congratulations to everyone, and thank you for making the first Bacoor
International Music Championships a great success.
