ASSIGNMENT 3 2

Basketball team

a) It was a basketball team consists of five members name Alex, Ben, Dave, Eva and David with
each having a specific positions and role. Alex was given a position of point guard, Ben with
shooting guard, Dave with small forward, Eva with power forward and David was given a
position to stand in center. Alex role was to bring the ball down the court as they are shortest
player and use their intelligence to communicate with other team members. Ben is responsible
for making shoots, dribbling the ball fast and passing onto other team members quickly. As Dave
has enough height so he was playing a defensive role. Eva was an effective inside shooter and
effective rebounder like the Centre as she was having more speed. As David is the tallest among
his team members he was positioned near the basket, he was an offensive while restricting
defenders to do goal and defensive by keeping shots to opponents and blocking others shots in
that key area (Cialdini, 1976).
Overall the team performed well by taking second position in basketball match in the semi-final
and afterwards team was given an extensive training by instructor which proved effective as all
team members learnt a lot from it and team took first position in final match.
b) Kirkpatrick’s model consists of four- level training evaluation model. This model was created by
Donald Kirkpatrick in the early 1959. It helps the trainer to measure the training in an effective
way. The four-level are described below in detail:
 Reaction: The reactions of trainer and the level of their participation to which extent
they are showing interest. From their attitude we can judge whether they find training
relevant to their job.
 Learning: How quickly the trainers learn by acquiring skills and knowledge. More they
learn, more they will be confident and it can be seen from their participation level. By
learning things they perform better.
 Behavior: This can be seen when participants apply their learning during the job. Their
behavior can be considered more positive if the degree of participation is more and vice
versa. They are more motivated if they are showing good behavior.
 Results: It can be linked with output. More the targeted outcome, it will be considered
positive outcome. More extensive training you provide to trainers there are more
chances of favorable results. As training polishes their skills which helps them to achieve
the goals (Fuller, 2006).
c) Many team members have weaknesses so they might not be able to perform the task up to the
mark. A proper training program helps to polish the skills from which team members learn a lot
and this will result in improvement. By attending this training session they perform their role
more accurately and their confidence level will build. This will ultimately benefit to the team as
whole. Team member morale will increase and their level of involvement increases and they
show positive behavior towards their task (Ekstrand, 2010).
A proper training plan is necessary in order to achieve the goal. By learning a lot from this you
will become the athlete. Training plan is a schedule to when the training should conduct at what
time, day, date and venue. A proper coach is selected to conduct the training and the targets are
decided which to achieve in this session and the ways how to achieve are also discussed with

the team members so they work hard. As we know to get success hardworking is important.
“Hardworking is the key to success”. A proper plan means at what specific time what you have
to do in order to go things right. If things go right ultimately you will achieve the goal (Ekstrand,
2010).
