Interviewee : B.Tech, Male, Bangalore

Interviewers : Ashlesh Mangrulkar (Group2- B18014)
Rohan Desai (Group6- B18042)

Situation : An interaction with a student studying B.Tech in Banagalore.

Candidate Background : Mild interest in Indian history and archaeology, has
been to a couple of museums as a kid, but hasn’t stepped in one since then.
Throughout the call, we tried to understand the behaviour of millennials
towards museums in general. He understood the appeal of museums from a
knowledge perspective but was reluctant to go to one.

The following reasons were identified that would make him visit a museum:

1. Visit public and free events by Subject Matter Experts and make the
experience interactive.
2. Gain experience of physically and tangibly seeing artefacts as opposed to
looking them up on online mediums.
3. Watching artefacts physically evokes an emotional response around how
our ancestors lived their lives, and what they valued in the past.
4. Local museums evoke a sense of collective heritage.
5. Descriptions of artefacts in museums provide for a more detailed source of
information, which is generally absent from school textbooks.
6. His interest in Medieval History can be satiated by visiting a History
museum in Bangalore.
7. Presence of diversified museums not just limited to History but
Technology, Art, Culture, Natural History and Military.
8. The museum experience is enhanced by visits to souvenir shops, food
outlets and novelty shops.
9. Museums make for sophisticated and elegant places to take someone out
on a date.
