LiWHY
The proliferation of fake news and history revisionism used as a weapon of propaganda,

truth has become its bloody victim. Too sharp is the weapon of misinformation that it has proved

to be a weapon of mass destruction. People has come to believe or disbelieve facts of Martial

law. Stories of the victims of Martial law seems inexistent or all it seems didn’t happen. Liway is

relevant in this time. It is a gold, a voice in the wilderness. It is an ode to everyone who chose not

to stay silent, those who chose to speak up and fight back in those dark times in our history and

in present, dark times of propaganda that utilizes misinformation, lie, deceit and historical

corruption.

Liway has presented the film in grandeur manner of simplicity. The best way to combat

appealing lies of propaganda is simple story telling, striking bulls eye, touching the hearts of the

viewers. The story unfolds through a mythical enchantress, story told to Dakip. I felt

Goosebumps as it unfolds. A grandeur exposition of truth, wrapped in the story told. After the

movie, I exclaimed, she truly is an enchantress. The story is true!

 It made me wonder, made my mind wander. I’d rather read or believe in the enchantress

and wizards fighting injustice, tyranny and dystopia than read blogs stating half-truths, twisted

truths and corrupted truth. I felt ambivalence after as I also felt sad, sad that in reality, people

believed something more that fiction, something stranger than fiction. I asked my self, what

could be done? I told myself, LiWHY must not be just an accident name for Liway. The movie is

deep, hunted me after the movie. This movie must be watched by many, but this could be

dismissed as the one proliferating misinformation.

I sometimes envy other courses of my classmates in law school. They had a way to make

use of their undergraduate courses. Accountants, good in taxation or othe subjects or topics

related in Math, legal management who have grasp of the topics. But my course, BSE major in

history, my MA units in History and all my readings and research are now branded as the one

that is fake news. I asked to li WHY?

My professor in Legal Philosophy in his introduction of the subject told as, we start

Philosophizing when we are at awe, when we question. The movie and his introduction made me

philosophizing, lover of wisdom, pursuer of wisdom, a seeker. So I asked, Li Why..

I came to watch a movie, but witnessed an art like an empty room were a sculpture atop a

pedestal, that is where Liway is, the enchantress.
