 THE PETROLEUM

The petroleum is the decomposition of raw organic matter, formed by the fossils of
marine, terrestrial plants and animals that it accumulates in porous rocks. It´s one of the
principal sources of energy and one of the most used since its discovery, the petroleum
have a lot of advantages like:

 TRANSPORT: Is used to power most of the people transport.

 POWER PLANTS: Is the primary energy of power plants and supply the high
demands of energy.
 BY- PRODUCT: This raw organic matter produce a lot of by-product like:
 Gasoline for cars and airplanes.
 Gases such as propane and butane.
 Heating (kerosene).
 Road asphalt.
 The shampoo etc.

An industry as it is known oil at flourished, but at the same time that petroleum
prospered were doing irreparable damage to the planet. Such as:

 THE FRACKING: It is a way to get petroleum that involves making a drilling

horizontally to where is the oil, a mix of water, sand and chemicals is injected at
high pressure which forces the petroleum out of the pores which are trapped
causing detachment on earth and earthquakes. This fracture requires between 9
and 29 million liters of water to be open, this decreases the amount of water that
directly damage the ecosystem. This also causes pollution in water sources and
when there is no treatment for recovering these waters.

 RESOURCES ARE LIMITED: The increasing in the cost of petroleum indicates

that the oil is decreasing.

 ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION: Oil spill in the oceans and sources water

and the burning of petroleum generates toxic gases for atmosphere.
  SAFE STORAGE: it is necessary to use a safe for the storage of oil in
destination space.

 GREENHOUSE GASES: fuel combustion, production processes, transport sent

to atmosphere gases such as carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, methane and others.

Petroleum has helped greatly to the industrial revolution of the human by the power
generating and sub-products removed from that, and maybe of this we get 90% of the
energy we use in transportation and sub products that are used daily.

The oil being a fuel is neither bad nor good, since that harm the planet are the
companies, the owners of these to extract the raw material thinking only about money
and not environmental damage.

Disasters are caused by misuse that give human and carelessness during removal and
transport.

The best thing you could do is find ways to replace this product as using alternative
energy sources (wind, solar) in everyday and use a small portion of oil only for
necessities including gasoline aircraft for intercontinental travel. This way you can
reduce the use of oil and thus the greenhouse gases.

make a more rational use of our important resource

The picture above shows how some people put the oil as the most important resource,
knowing that we can subsist without him and that the most important is the water. This
kind of reasoning shows that it is more important to some people in the oil business that
the same environment

Make no mistake about that thanks to the human oil reached achieve all current
developments, which represent large advantages as:

Heating, electronic communications, the operation of the means of land and air
transport and other facilities that today man can enjoy.

But you cannot forget that oil is a nonrenewable resource which we must take care,
make responsible use for our own benefit and that of future generations.
