O'MALLEY TAKES A STAND FOR VICTIMS’ RIGHTS

Endorsed by Crime Victims Actions Alliance, Citizens For Law And Order

Concord, CA – Two high profile victims’ advocacy groups have voiced their support of DA Candidate and former
Judge Dan O’Malley for District Attorney of Contra Costa County. The Executive Boards of the Crime Victims Action
Alliance (CVAA) and Citizens for Law and Order (CLO) both endorsed O’Malley as their chosen candidate for the
position today.

“After participating in an extensive, rigorous process for consideration of an endorsement by the CVAA and CLO, we
are happy to announce former Judge Dan O’Malley has the endorsement of both organizations,” said Christine
Ward, Director of the Crime Victims Action Alliance and President of CLO.

“We believe his vast knowledge of the criminal justice system and extensive experience working with victims of crime
more than qualifies him for this role and that he will be a fair and balanced DA who will ensure the rights of the
victim are upheld and respected. The CVAA and CLO are confident that Dan O’Malley will be an exceptional District
Attorney.”

Judge Dan O’Malley (ret.) has been a well-recognized victims’ rights advocate throughout his career, in the roles of
Deputy District Attorney, Judge and as a Managing Law Partner. He has advocated for hundreds of victims and their
families, and has also taught on the subject at Colleges and the Police Academy.

“I am so proud and honored to be endorsed by CVAA and CLO. They are two of the most vocal victims’ rights groups
and they perform an integral role for those affected by crime in Contra Costa and beyond,” Judge Dan O’Malley (ret.)
said in a statement today.

“In all the positions I have held, I have treated victims of crime with dignity and respect. Being sensitive to the needs
of victims and their families is not something I am doing for show. I have a track history of advocating for victims of
crime and will continue to do so, irrespective of this campaign.”

Judge Dan O’Malley (ret.) has a comprehensive vision for change in Contra Costa County, and part of his plan is to
include a strong restitution program to help offset the cost of crime for victims, and hold perpetrators accountable.

“As a recognized victims’ rights advocate, one of the most significant differences between myself and my opponent is
the value we place on victims of crime. I know first-hand how crime impacts people and families. I believe that
victims of crime are often neglected or forgotten and it is they who live with the aftermath of crime. Their needs
should be addressed at all stages of the process, and I believe victims are entitled to the strong advocacy of the
District Attorney’s Office in securing restitution for them,” O’Malley said.
