ABSTRACT
Due to the current technological development and changing demands in the society
and labour market it become necessary for teaching and learning to devices the means for
these could only be successful through sound pedagogy and information computer technology
(ICT).
INTRODUCTION
What is technical drawing and what are the advantages of using it?
Technical Drawing is the art or skill of creating a plan as such that a person can visualize and
follow how it needs to be carried out. This is also known as Draughting or Drafting and through
this process. instead of writing and/or explaining the process of how something would be created
or performed, the functions and features are explained with the help of a drawing. The person
who creates these drawings are known as a draughtsman, draftsperson, or drafter and if the
Technical Drawing is most commonly practiced by architects and engineers but is also
electricians, and pretty much anyone who builds or creates things. Even programmers and app
students to the Technical Drafting field. In the Drafting-Computer Aided certificate students will
learn basic drafting and AutoCAD skills applicable to gener- al drafting positions. The Drafting-
Intermediate certificate introduces students to specialized skills for archi- tectural drafting.
Courses in the secondary Technical Drafting program are for high school credits only and will be
shown on the student’s high school transcript. Through an articulation agreement with DMTC,
students may then enroll in college courses to spe- cialize in Civil CAD, Architectural CADD, or
Mechanical CAD drafting technology, where they gain a basic foundation in each of those
disciplines. Drafters prepare technical drawings and plans used to build everything from
manufactured products, machinery, houses and office buildings to pipelines and roads. Most
drafters use Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CAD) systems to prepare drawings. Within
the drafting occupation there are a number of specialties, including: aeronautical, architectural,
civil, electrical, electronics, mechanical, and process piping or pipelines. All of these require
mechanical ability and visual aptitude. An ability to draw well and perform detailed work
accurately and neatly is also important. In addition, drafters will be working with other
professionals and cus- tomers and need to have good interpersonal skills. Revised 3/29/17

Fast modification, addition, and deletion In any design process, it’s rare that the first
draft is the one that’s kept for the final rendering of a project. A drawing usually needs to be
looked over several times so that each trade working on the project can adjust it according to
their own needs. Computer-assisted drawing therefore offers you the great advantage of being
able to make multiple modifications, additions, or deletions of elements quickly and easily,
without ruining the whole drawing. Unlike handmade drawings, modifying a computer-assisted
According to DRAFTING AND DESIGN drafting history goes back to 2000 BC,
when a fossilized plan was found showing an aerial view of a Babylonian fortress. Ever since
man has been building, erecting or fabricating, man has conveyed technical information about
the project. Today we may still make maps, but the twenty-first century designer uses his or her
convey information. Drafting uses a strict set of standards and rules, so when a technical picture
communicates ideas, concepts and facts pictorially so that others can manufacture, fabricate,
You can use the drafting techniques for Architecture and Engineering.
