AREAS IN INFANT EDUCATION

According to Decree 38 /2008, the contents in Infant Education are grouped into 3
areas:
 Knowledge of themselves and personal autonomy.

 The physical, natural, social, and cultural environment.

 Languages: communication & representation.


5.1. METHODOLOGY

In this unid we are going to followed different main features, the method followed is
the Communicative Approach.

Main features:

 First, analyze students’ motivation, their previous knowledge, their mental


abilities and progress.
 Other factors: number of students, materials, teaching techniques, etc.
 Active participation.
 Frequent recycling.
 Visual aids, objects, models, puppets, songs and games.
 Material and lessons: interesting and enjoyable.

With the final objective: COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE

Individual

•Requires more concentration.


•Activities:
 Worksheet
 Reading/writing activities

Pair work

•Increases cooperation, participation & language use (not shy to speak aloud).
•Increases practice.
•How to make pairs?
 Strong+strong, weak+weak,…

Group work

•Opportunity to cooperate and participate.


•It’s more dynamic than Pair work.
•Different group possibilities: (advaced+weak,weak+weak, advanced+advanced, etc.)
•Size: Not recommended more than 6 students.

Lockstep or whole class work


For example to present the vocabulary

•Used in presentation activities.


•All students + teacher – Teacher gives a model.
•Need be highly motivating.
•Inconvenient:

5.2. GROUPINGS

Different groupings depending on:

In the class of presentation we will work whole class/ lockstep

In the class of Practice we will work whole class / lockstep or individual depending on
activity.

In the class of Production we will do different groupings depending on activity.


CLASSROOM DISTRIBUTION

We will distribuate the classroom depending on activity.

Normally, our class is divided into groups of 4 maximum, but as the assembly session
class will be in circle.
5.3. SPECIAL EDUCATIVE NEEDS Mention the different levels of students:

 Advanced (we have got 3 students)


 Standard level (we have got 10 students)
 Support needed ( we have got 2 students)
