Introduction
In this assignment, the students are expected to compile a list of possible resources that could be exploited on the Merapi Volcano despite the risk. Each
resources will be classified into three temporal time, which is short, medium, and long. The following table are the table resulted from research.

Temporal
Long Medium Short
Resources
- pH of the Merapi volcanic ash is acidic, and the
electrical conductivity is 4-5mS, suitable for
Agricultural crops such as vegetables and fruits
like chili, watermelon, salacca, and so on.
Soil Fertility - The volcanic ash is dominated by the nutrient
content of 54% silica. Silica is a very useful
element for the rice plant which make the plant
stand upright, and resistant to pests and
diseases
- For a resort or restaurant on the low danger - For a resort or restaurant on the medium danger -Volcano tourism can be categorized as dark
zone (Danger Zone 1), it is expected that they’re zone (Danger Zone 2), it is unknown whether tourism, which depends on two main things:
sustain enough as the only thing they sell is the they could sustain or not as their safety and the scale and the time when the event occurs.
Merapi View itself. sustainable is depending on the direction and The bigger the scale and the more recent the
scale of Merapi Eruption. disaster, the more it will nourish.
Tourism -As for now, volcano tourism on Merapi are being
Object upheld because of 2010 eruption, which one of
the most destructive since early 1900. This
eruption creates a lot new tourism object such
as jeep tour, disaster area tour, and such.
-Without any other big disaster, the volcano
tourism surely decline
- As Yogyakarta is quite a strategist province,
development and construction is inevitable. As
such, the potential of the material that’s
brought by Merapi Lahar will always be in high
Quarry
demand. But, without a proper management, it
will only damage the environment and drain the
resource fast. As such, the sustainability is being
questioned.
