Hosea Chapter 8 ���

� ‫הֹו‬
‫�ּבית‬-‫ �����ׁשר ��ל‬,‫�ח��ָך �ׁש�פר‬-‫א �אל‬ 1 Set the horn to thy mouth. As a
vulture he cometh against the house of
‫ּתֹו�ר�תי‬-‫ �ו��ל‬,‫�י��ן ���ברּו �ב �רי�תי‬--‫�יה�וה‬ the LORD; because they have
.‫���ׁשעּו‬ transgressed My covenant, and
trespassed against My law.

,‫ �י����קּו; �אֹל�הי �י�ד��נּוָך‬,‫ב �לי‬ 2 Will they cry unto Me: 'My God, we
Israel know Thee'?
.‫�י�ׂש�ר�אל‬
.‫ �י �ר��פֹו‬,‫ טֹוב; אֹו�יב‬,‫ג ���נח �י�ׂש�ר�אל‬ 3 Israel hath cast off that which is
good; the enemy shall pursue him.

‫ �ה�ׂשירּו‬,‫ד �הם �ה�מ�ליכּו �ול �א �מ�� ��י‬ 4 They have set up kings, but not from
Me, they have made princes, and I
‫ ��ׂשּו‬,‫�ול �א �י�ד���ּתי; ���ס��ם ּו���ה�בם‬ knew it not; of their silver and their
.‫ �י���רת‬,‫ �ל�מ��ן‬,‫�ל�הם �����ּבים‬ gold have they made them idols, that
they may be cut off.

;‫ �ח�רה �א��י �ּבם‬,‫ה ���נח �����לְך �ׁש�מרֹון‬ 5 Thy calf, O Samaria, is cast off;
Mine anger is kindled against them;
.‫ ל �א יּו�כלּו �נ�� �ין‬,‫�מ�תי‬-‫��ד‬ how long will it be ere they attain to
innocency?

,‫�ח�רׁש ���ׂשהּו‬--‫ �והּוא‬,‫ו ��י �מ ���ׂש�ר�אל‬ 6 For from Israel is even this: the
craftsman made it, and it is no God;
,‫�ׁש�ב�בים �י�ה�יה‬-‫ ��י‬:‫�ול �א �אֹל�הים הּוא‬ yea, the calf of Samaria shall be
.‫����ל �ׁש�מרֹון‬ broken in shivers.

;‫ �וסּו�פ�תה �י�ק��רּו‬,‫ז ��י רּו�ח �י���רעּו‬ 7 For they sow the wind, and they shall
reap the whirlwind; it hath no stalk, the
-‫���מח‬-‫ ���מח �ּב�לי �י���ׂשה‬,‫לֹו‬-‫�ק�מה �אין‬ bud that shall yield no meal; if so be it
.‫ �� �רים �י�ב�ל��הּו‬,‫אּו�לי �י���ׂשה‬- yield, strangers shall swallow it up.

,‫ �י�ׂש�ר�אל; ���ּתה �היּו �בּגֹו �ים‬,‫ח �נ�ב�לע‬ 8 Israel is swallowed up; now are they
become among the nations as a vessel
.‫�ח�פץ ּבֹו‬-‫���כ�לי �אין‬ wherein is no value.

‫ ���רא ּבֹו�דד‬,‫�ה��ה ��לּו �אּׁשּור‬-‫ט ��י‬ 9 For they are gone up to Assyria, like
a wild ass alone by himself; Ephraim
.‫ �ה�תנּו �א�ה�בים‬,‫לֹו; �א�פ�ר �ים‬ hath hired lovers.

;‫ ���ּתה �א�ק�ּב��ם‬,‫ �י�תנּו �בּגֹו �ים‬-‫י �ּגם ��י‬ 10 Yea, though they hire among the
nations, now will I gather them up; and
.‫ �מ����א �מ�לְך �ׂש �רים‬,‫�ו���חּלּו ����ט‬ they begin to be minished by reason of
the burden of king and princes.

,‫�ה �ר�ּבה �א�פ�ר �ים �מ���ּבחֹות‬-‫יא ��י‬ 11 For Ephraim hath multiplied altars
to sin, yea, altars have been unto him
.‫ �ל�חט �א‬,‫לֹו �מ���ּבחֹות‬-‫ �היּו‬:‫�ל�חט �א‬ to sin.

‫רבו‬--‫) לֹו‬-‫ (�א�כ�ּתב‬-‫יב אכתוב‬ 12 Though I write for him never so

many things of My Law, they are
.‫ �נ�ח�ׁשבּו‬,‫��ר‬-‫ ��מֹו‬:‫ ּתֹו�ר�תי‬,)‫(�ר�ּבי‬ accounted as a stranger's.

‫ �י���ּבחּו �ב�ׂשר‬,‫יג ���ב�חי �ה�ב�ה�בי‬ 13 As for the sacrifices that are made
by fire unto Me, let them sacrifice
‫ ל �א �ר��ם; ���ּתה �י����ר‬,‫ �יה�וה‬--‫�ו� �א�כלּו‬ flesh and eat it, for the LORD
,‫�ה��ה‬--‫ �ו �י�פ�קד �ח� �או�תם‬,‫�� �ו�נם‬ accepteth them not. Now will He
.‫�מ���ר �ים �יׁשּובּו‬ remember their iniquity, and punish
their sins; they shall return to Egypt.

‫ �ו ���בן‬,‫�ע�ׂשהּו‬-‫יד �ו ���ׁש��ח �י�ׂש�ר�אל �את‬ 14 For Israel hath forgotten his Maker,
and builded palaces, and Judah hath
‫ �ה �ר�ּבה �� �רים‬,‫ �ויהּו�דה‬,‫�הי�כלֹות‬ multiplied fortified cities; but I will
‫ �ו�א�כ�לה‬,‫�אׁש �ּב���ריו‬-‫�ּב��רֹות; �ו�ׁש�ּל�ח�ּתי‬ send a fire upon his cities, and it shall
}‫ {פ‬.‫�א �ר�מ �נ�תי�ה‬ devour the castles thereof. {P}
