3.3. Environmental database
This section describes the environmental data that has been used in the preparation of
the different scenarios. At the start of each scenario the following wind and wave
conditions are used:
Wind: Nims
Waves: Nim
Values and direction of wind and waves may be adjusted before or during a simulation,
This allows the simulator instructor to adjust the environment as needed.
A complete 12 hour cycle of the current is modelled in the simulator. By selecting the
start time of the simulations the instructor can select the required current. 12:00
corresponds with HW at Hull, At high water the current is ingoing and has a force of
around 1.5 kts in the main channel. The currentfiolds close to Immingham lock and in
the channel are given in appendix C for HW -6 hrs to HW+6 hrs. The next table gives an
overview of the Tidal current close to thr Immingham Terminal
