Weaknesses of Indonesian Economic

Chamber of Indonesia Commerce and Industry (Kadin) declared Indonesian economy that
is actually very promising for both domestic and foreign investors. However, there are still
weaknesses seeing by Kadin of the economy that need to be addressed. Vice Chairman of Kadin
Indonesia, Novian Anindya Bakrie said, promising Indonesian economy is evidenced by incoming
investment, private consumption, and vibrant business world.
“But there are still some weaknesses that Indonesia’s economic structure needs to be
addressed now,” said Anindya at Menara Kadin Jakarta, Wednesday (06/03/2013). Anindya see
Indonesia’s economic weakness is in the trade deficit. Currently due to larger imports than exports
then it makes more Indonesian trade balance to be deficit. Moreover, the largest import of oil and
gas.
On the other hand, Anindya also highlights subsidy of oil (BBM) to the people who actually
are not even on target. Current budget fuel subsidy enjoyed by the rich instead. “As the impact,
the deficit and the high pressure gas imports that led to the weakening of the rupiah,” he added.
Again, the actual budget for infrastructure even neglected. He rated in the last few months
that there is no improvement of government policy so that a problem cannot be resolved. Though
foreign investors intending to invest in Indonesia as it will look up the bureaucratic infrastructure.
If not good, then foreign investors will pull out of Indonesia.

In Weaknesses of Indonesian Economic (JAKARTA: FAUZI AKBAR, 2014), Fauzi

Akbar tells the story of Novian Anindya Bakrie as Vice Chairman of Kadin Indonesia. Weaknesses
of Indonesian economic is the start of Fauzi Akbar story; in his article, He writes with clarity of
curiosity about information economy in Indonesia is weakened.

There are still weaknesses seeing by Kadin of the economy that need to be addressed by
Vice Chairman of Kadin Indonesia, Novian Anindya Bakrie. Anindya see Indonesia’s economic
weakness is in the trade deficit. Currently due to larger imports than exports then it makes more

weakening of the rupiah. Although foreign investors intending to invest in Indonesia as it will look

Now, I feel more understanding about information of economic weakness in Indonesia,

after reading article written by Fauzi Akbar. The positive impact of this article is useful to increase
knowledge about the economy in Indonesia. it also makes us aware of the importance of the rupiah
exchange rate. From this article we can know how Vice Chairman of Kadin Indonesia, Novian
Anindya Bakrie in forming a better economy. To make the Indonesian economy better, I think it
should start with an individual's sense of superior trading. This will make many investors dare to
invest in Indonesia.

After that I also see many irregularities after reading this article. Negative impacts that are
caused after I read this article is the lack of information about public awareness of the rupiah
exchange rate. It causes investors to withdraw from Indonesia. It needs to be improved by
socializing the trading system. Besides the importance of information on the exchange rate of the
rupiah to make the rupiah exchange rate better. If the awareness of society is well to the economy
in Indonesia, it will be many investors who invest in Indonesia. It will make the economy in
Indonesia to be advanced.

Weaknesses of Indonesian Economic is a remarkable article. Fauzi Akbar able to make the
article well and demand readers to know the economy in Indonesia. It also makes us aware of the
importance of the value of the rupiah and the trading system. Because, it will make investors dare
to invest and make the economy in Indonesia better. He also teaches us to be a good reader to add
knowledge.
