COURSE SPECIFICATION

Title : Agriculture & Man (Pertanian & Manusia)

Code : PRT 2008 (Group 28)

Credit hour : 2(2+0)

Lecture : Thursday, 12-2 pm, DKU (FSKTM).

Synopsis : This course encompasses the evolution of agriculture from the beginning to the present as a planned activity for food security
and wealth creation driven by economic development and technology in a sustainable manner. Modern agriculture is presented
as a science, an art and a business encompassing its role and impact on resource utilization and human development.

Sinopsis : (Kursus ini merangkumi evolusi pertanian daripada permulaan kepada masa kini sebagai aktiviti terancang untuk sekuriti
makanan dan penjanaan kekayaan, didorong oleh kemajuan ekonomi serta teknologi secara lestari. Pertanian moden
dipaparkan sebagai sains, seni dan bisnes yang meliputi peranan dan impaknya terhadap penggunaan sumber dan
pembangunan manusia.)

LEARNING OUTCOME:

At the end of the course, a student can:


a. explain the role of agriculture in the development of civilization and well being of mankind. (C2)
b. discuss the importance of agricultural resources and their management for the development of sustainable
agriculture. (A2, EM, TS)
c. explain the importance of agricultural sector in the production of food resources, protection, medicinal and basic
industrial resources towards economic development. (P2)

ATTENDANCE:

Record is taken for every lecture. Any student whose attendance is less than 80% (which is 23) of the total credit hours required shall be barred
from sitting for the final examination and the student will not be awarded any marks for the final examination. This rule is cited as the Universiti
Putra Malaysia Rules 2003 (Academic).
