EL PASADO SIMPLE
El pasado simple se usa principalmente en inglés para mostrar una
acción que empezó y terminó en un período de tiempo que ya ha
acabado, como AYER, EL AÑO PASADO, EL PASADO VERANO, EN 1990, LA
SEMANA PASADA, ANOCHE....
Corresponde es español a las terminaciones siguientes:

EL AFIRMATIVO DEL PASADO SIMPLE
El afirmativo del pasado simple se forma poniendo primero el SUJETO
del verbo, y después el pasado del verbo principal. Cada persona
( I, YOU, HE, SHE, IT, WE, YOU, THEY) usa la misma palabra para
expresar el pasado, y no hace falta añadir una "S" con HE, SHE, IT,
como en el presente simple.
En inglés hay principalmente dos tipos de verbos en el
pasado...los llamados REGULARES y los IRREGULARES. ( Y también hay
una categoría de dos verbos especiales, que son TO BE y TO BE ABLE
TO/COULD y que son completamente distintos, ya que no utilizan DID
en el negativo e interrogativo).
LOS VERBOS "REGULARES" EN EL PASADO.
Un verbo que es regular en el pasado se forma poniendo ED al final
del infinitivo (sin TO). Por ejemplo, to talk = hablar y el pasado
será TALKED.
to ask = preguntar (pasado ASKED); to play = jugar (pasado =
PLAYED)
yo hablé = I talked
tú hablaste, usted habló = you talked
él habló = he talked
ella habló = she talked

cosa habló = it talked
nosotros hablamos = we talked
vosotros hablasteis, ustedes hablaron = you talked
ellos hablaron = they talked

Sin embargo hay algunas reglas complicadas de ortografía que se
deben seguir al formar el pasado simple de los VERBOS REGULARES (No
se explican en esta fotocopia

LOS VERBOS IRREGULARES EN EL PASADO
No hay reglas de ortografía para la larga lista de verbos que son
irregulares en el pasado ya que cada uno es distinto y debe
aprenderse de memoria. Pero igual que con los verbos REGULARES en
el pasado, el pasado ( que se encontrará en la columna llamada
AFIRMATIVO DE LOS VERBOS IRREGULARES) se usa con todas las
personas.
ejemplo empezar = to begin (pasado = BEGAN)
yo empecé = I began
tú empezaste, usted empezó = you began
él empezó = he began
ella empezó = she began
coso empezó = it began
nosotros empezamos = we began
vosotros empezasteis, ustedes empezaron = you began
ellos empezaron = they began
