FETOGRAPHY

A. LEARNING OBJECTIVES

After studying this module, you are expected to perform a

Fetografi examination technique. But beforehand you are expected to

first explain the definition of examination of Fetografi, Fetografi Definition,

Purpose of Use Fetografi examination, Preparation Tools and Patients

as well as techniques of Fetografi Inspection. From the mastery of this

Fetografi examination technique, you are expected to produce a

diagnostic image well and show the condition of the fetus in the mother's

abdomen to support the clinical diagnosis.

B . C ON TE N T O F MA TE R IA LS

To achieve the learning objectives in this Module you will learn the following:

1. Understanding of Fetografi examination techniques.

2. Definition of Fetografi examination.

3. Purpose of Fetografi examination.

4. Preparation of tools and materials.

5. Projection and examination procedures of fetografi.

C . MA TE R IA LS

Fetography is a branch of radiological examination without the use of

contrast media. Radiographic examination of pregnant women using x-rays

to see the condition of the fetus. This check is performed only if it is needed

to support the diagnostic because of radiation hazards to the fetus.

Examination may be performed on a fetus that is resistant to radiation or

more radiation resistance in the 3rd trismester. This examination is often

known as Abdomen Polos (FPA) Gravid Reproduction.

2. PURPOSE OF FETOGRAPHY

Usefulness of doing Fetografi examination:

- Determine the age of pregnancy

- Determine where the fetus is

- Determine the number of fetuses

- Determine the location of the fetal head

- Determine the fetal sign off

3. PREPARATION TOOLS & MATERIALS

1. The tools and materials used are:

a) A x-ray plane with sufficient capability of 80-90 kV

b) Cassettes and films along with grid size 30x40 cm

3

c) Marker

2. Preparation of the patient

- Discharge of urinary vesica

- Urine

4. PROCEDURE OF EXAMINATION

A. Projection Checking

On examination of thorax using projection examination as follows:

1) AP projections

Patient position: supine

Object position:

- MSP body on mid tape

- Abdominal cavity in mid-cassette

- The upper limit of the diaphragm and the lower limit of

the pubic sympisis

- Knee joint positioned parallel

Direction of ray: vertically perpendicular in the second half of SIAS

4
Modul Pr ak tek Tek nik Radiogr afi 4

Expiratory expiratory expression

Radiograph Criteria:

- Looks fetal bone picture

- Density and contrast can show the joints and bones of the fetus

- No apparent abdominal rotation

2) Lateral Projection

Patient position: patient on one side of the body

Object position:

- Abdominal area in the middle of the film

- Both limbs are maximized

- MCP perpendicular examination table

The direction of the beam: vertically perpendicular to the middle of

the film as high as L3 / at 1 inch in front of the MCP

Expiratory expiratory expression

Radiogarf criteria:

- Hip joint and femur mutual superposition

STEPS OF PRACTICE

Try to do a simulation of the practice of examining the Fetografi with the

following steps:

a. tools preparation

1. Demonstrate where the equipment should be

b. Simulate the use of tools

Projection Checking
