CIRCULAR MEASURES

1) Diagram shows a circle PQRT, centre O and

radius 5 cm. JQK is a tangent to the circle at
Q. The straight lines, JO and KO, intersect
the circle at P and R respectively. OPQR is
a rhombus. JLK is an arc of a circle, with
centre O. [Using π = 3.142]
Calculate
a) the angle α , in terms of π. [2 m]
b) the length, in cm, of the arc JLK [4 m]
2
c) the area, in cm , of the shaded region [4 m]
2) Diagram shows a sector AOC of a circle
with centre O. The radius of the sector is 5
cm, angle AOB is 0.2π rad, the length of
minor arc BC is twice the length of arc AB,
triangle OMN is a right-angled triangle and
ON = 4 cm. [Using π = 3.142], Find
a) the length, in cm, of the arc BC, [3 m]
b) the perimeter, of the shaded region, [4 m]
c) the area, of the shaded region. [3 m]
3) In Diagram, ADE is a semicircle with
centre O and radius 5 cm. ABC is a right –
angled triangle and E is the midpoint of
AB. Given that BC = 11.55 cm and CD =
14.44 cm. Calculate [Using π = 3.142]
a) the length, in cm, of arc DE [3 m]
b) the area, of the shaded region. [4 m]
4) The length of arc AB is 10π cm and CE = 6
cm. Find: [Using π = 3.142]
a) the value of θ in radian, [2 m]
b) the perimeter, of the shaded region P, [4 m]
c) the area, of the shaded region Q. [4 m]
5) Diagram shows a semicircle ABEC with
centre O and a sector ACD of a circle with
centre A. It is given that the radius AD is 20
cm, angle ACD = 0.85 radian and the length
of arc BEC is 28 cm.
Find [Using π = 3.142]
a) the perimeter of the shaded region [6 m].
b) the area of segrnent BEC [4 m]
6) Diagram shows a circle RST with centre O
radius 7 cm. PR is a tangent to the circle at
point R and PRQ is a quadrant of a circle
with centre R. R is the midpoint of OQ and
RS is a chord. ORQ and POS are straight
lines. Calculate [Using π = 3.142]
a) the angle α, in radians, [2 m]
b) the perimeter of the shaded region, [4 m]
c) the area of the shaded region, [4 m]
