Factors That Cause Diarrhea Associated With Early MPASI Feeding In Infants
On Puskesmas Taba Kota Lubuklinggau Tahun 2013.

ABSTRACT
Diarrhea is the state of a person defecate with liquid stools and can mixed with
blood or mucus and if the override in infants and not treated immediately in a short
time causing death. Factors associated with the incidence of diarrhea in infants
include toddler age, maternal age, nutritional status, number of children, ASI
exclusive, maternal education, maternal occupation, knowledge, maternal behavior,
and clean water. From Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) note that in 2007 the
highest infant mortality due to diarrhea (42%).
Parents play a major role in determining the cause of children affected by
diarrhea. Infants and toddlers who are still ASI exclusive breastfed are generally
infrequent diarrhea because it is not contaminated from the outside. However, milk
formula and complementary foods can be contaminated with bacteria and viruses.
This study is a descriptive Analytical with cross sectional approach. The purpose
of this study was to determine the factors associated with early MPASI feeding in
infants in Puskesmas Taba Kota Lubuklinggau Tahun 2013. Population of 164 with
sample of 61 respondents.
Results of univariate analysis showed that of 61 respondents, 44 respondents
(72.1%) categorized as ≤ 6 months of age, 34 respondents (55.7%) low-income
category, 47 respondents (77%) in the category of good nutritional status and 37
respondents (60.7%) did not receive MPASI category. Results of the bivariate
analysis with Chi Square test was concluded that there is a relationship between the
age of the baby by giving MPASI (ρ value = 0.026), there is a relationship between
revenue by giving MPASI (ρ value = 0.01) and there is a relationship between
nutritional status by giving MPASI (ρ value = 0.027).
Advice for Leaders Puskesmas Taba in order to further maximize nutrition
improvement program through the provision of exclusive breastfeeding and solid
foods that can improve the health of infants in their working area.
