LESSON 4
GRAMMAR:

PRESENT CONTINUOUS OR PRESENT PROGRESSIVE shows:

1. An action that is taking place at the moment of speaking (now).

2. An action that is taking place these days, not necessarily right now.
3. An action that is expected to finish in the near future (to be seen later on).

Structure: Verb TO BE (in the present tense) + (Main Verb with termination ing)
Ex.: I AM (To Be) + [read (Main verb) + termination ING] now = I am reading now.

AFFIRMATIVE
I am studying English.
He is buying a car.
She is playing a song.
It is raining now.
You are reading the book.
We are writing a composition.
You are sleeping late.
They are preparing the meal.

INTERROGATIVE
Am I studying English?
Is he buying a car?
Is she playing a song?
Is it raining now?
Are you reading the book?
Are we writing a composition?
Are you sleeping late?
Are they preparing the meal?

NEGATIVE
I am not studying English.
He is not buying a car.
She is not playing a song.
It is not raining now.
You are not reading the book.
We are not writing a composition.
They are not preparing the meal.

PREPOSITION “AT ”:

* A certain point, place:

John is at home. The engineer is at his office.
Mary is at the door.

* For time, hours:

He’s going to come at six o’clock.
We’re going at half past five.

* Exact address:
The school is at 15 Park Avenue.
His office is at 126 Garden Street.
