MILF

FACTS:

The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) is an Islamic organization based in Mindanao,
Philippines, which seeks for the establishment of an independent region for the Muslim
minority in the Philippines, known as the Moro people.

It was formerly a part of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) in the 1970s, but due
to ideological and political disagreements between MNLF co-founders Hashim Salamat and
Nur Misuari, it began to split as the New MNLF under Hashim Salamat.
