ABSTRACT
The paper analyzes comparatively the evolution of labor relations in the oil
industry, from its inception as an industry in 1914, considering the oil strike
of 1936, the 2002 employers' strike, and its current situation in 2015. We
have inquired in the conscience that On this evolution, the current workers
of the Venezuelan petroleum industry continue with a view to assessing the
potential for new processes of transformation within the industry and its
relationship with the national society. To this end, interviews were conducted
with oil workers on the Eastern Coast of the Lake and PDVSA's senior payroll
workers in Maracaibo and COL. The investigation shows that it is still waiting
to develop a profound transformation of the way the oil industry operates in
Venezuela, and that the labor relations within it have maintained the criteria
assistencialistas-reclamación that were forged in the process of constitution of
the trade union movement More than 60 years ago. The "Bolivarian revolution"
did not introduce greater modifications to the managerial schemes of the "old"
PDVSA created by bipartisanship. However, if a nationalist conscience manifests
itself in its workers, who believes that the Venezuelan-led industry can generate
greater benefits for both the entire nation and its workers in particular.
