Introduction to

Goa Sahakar Bhandar
Goa Sahakar Bhandar is a Goan supermarket situated in Vasco-Da-Gama,
whose main head office is in Panjim. It was established in 1957. It also has
business in other parts of Goa.
The business of Goa Sahakar Bhandar is to provide good products, from
quality suppliers, to the customers so that there can be more demand from
customer side and better earning for the company. They sell products, all
products at a low price that is less then the market value, so that the
customers can spend their income in a more reliable manner. Their main
aim is to provide customer satisfaction in the best possible way. They offer
different schemes to customers or discounts on many products through the
way of discounts coupons, scratch cards etc. They provide products to
customers as soon as launched in market, which are newly introduced so
that people don’t have to wait for a long time to buy the products. There can
be no complaints from the customers about duplication of goods, because
the products sold are branded ones directly supplied from trusted suppliers
of companies.
The middle class people have an advantage of saving their income for their
use as the prices are low as compared to prices of goods in market.
Therefore it provides better facilities. Customer are therefore benefited.

REQUIMENT ANALYSIS

8
Business Organization, Roles and Responsibilities.
Manager: Manager plays a very important role in business processes. He
has to control the overflow of information for smooth running of
transactions. He acts as a controller of departments. He manages all the
steps involved in all the processes. He acts as a head upon whom the things
are binding.
Customer: Customer is an important person in business process. In a
business goods are manufactured which are then sold to customers. They
play a very important role. As they are the source from which the business
earns. They purchase products and provide money through which business
can continue. Goa Sahakar Bhandar conducts customer royalty programs
through which they provide offer, discounts etc. It is the responsibility of
customers to pay the money for the purchase they make. Customer should
be given full attention.
Suppliers: Suppliers also play a very important role in business. They
supply goods to the supermarkets for further business. It’s their
responsibility to supply goods mentioned in the list provided by the
manager of purchase department. Goods should be proper, in relation to
quality, quantity etc. It’s their responsibility to deliver goods in time,
because customers come and go, so transactions take place at a rapid speed.
Staff Members: Staff members are the workers working in the company.
They follow the steps mentioned by the manager. They should be quite
polite, friendly etc with their customers. It’s their responsibility to keep the
work going for better running of business.

Symbols used for Business Process Flowcharts

I) Process / Operation Symbols

10
Symbol
Symbol Symbol Description
Name

Show a Process or action step. This is the

Process most common symbol in both process
flowcharts and business process maps.

A Predefined Process symbol is a marker for

another process step or series of process
flow steps that are formally defined
elsewhere. This shape commonly depicts
sub-processes (or subroutines in
Predefined
programming flowcharts). If the sub-process
Process
is considered "known" but not actually
(Subroutine)
defined in a process procedure, work
instruction, or some other process flowchart
or documentation, then it is best not to use
this symbol since it implies a formally
defined process.

As the shape name suggests, this flowchart

symbol is used when the process flow step
Alternate
is an alternate to the normal process step.
Process
Flow lines into an alternate process flow
step are typically dashed.

11
II) Branching and Control of Flow Symbols

Symbol

FlowLine
Flow line connectors show the direction
(Arrow,Connec
that the process flows.
tor)

Terminators show the start and stop

Terminator points in a process. When used as a Start
(Terminal symbol, terminators depict a trigger
Point, Oval) action that sets the process flow into
motion.

Indicates a question or branch in the

process flow. Typically, a Decision
Decision
flowchart shape is used when there are 2
options (Yes/No, No/No-Go, etc.)

Connector Flowchart: In flowcharts, this symbol is

(Inspection) typically small and is used as a Connector
to show a jump from one point in the
process flow to another. Connectors are
usually labeled with capital letters (A, B,
AA) to show matching jump points. They
are handy for avoiding flow lines that
cross other shapes and flow lines. They
are also handy for jumping to and from a
sub-processes defined in a separate area
than the main flowchart.

12
Off-Page Connector shows continuation of
a process flowchart onto another page.
When using them in conjunction with
Off-Page
Connectors, it's best to differentiate the
Connector
labels, e.g. use numbers for Off-Page
Connectors and capital letters for
Connectors

Flowchart: Shows the merging of

Merge
multiple processes or information into
(Storage)
one.

Flowchart: Shows when a process plits

Extract into parallel paths. Also commonly
(Measurement indicates a Measurement, with a capital
) 'M' inside the symbol.

The logical Or symbol shows when a

process diverges - usually for more than 2
branches. When using this symbol, it is
Or
important to label the out-going flow lines
to indicate the criteria to follow each
branch.

Summing The logical Summing Junction flowchart

Junction shape is shows when multiple branches
converge into a single process. The merge
symbol is more common for this use,
though. This symbol and the Or symbol
are really more relevant in data

13
processing flow diagrams than in process
flowcharts.

III) Input and Output Symbols

Symbol
Symbol Symbol Description
Name

The Data flowchart shape indicates

inputs to and outputs from a process.
Data
As such, the shape is more often
(I/O)
referred to as an I/O shape than a
Data shape.

Pretty self explanatory - the

Document flowchart symbol is for a
Document
process step that produces a
document.

Multi- Same as Document, except, well,

Document multiple documents. This shape is not
as commonly used as the Document

14
flowchart shape, even when multiple
documents are implied.

IV) File and Information Storage Symbols

Symbol
Symbol Symbol Description
Name

A general Data Storage flowchart

shape used for any process step that
Stored Data stores data (as opposed to the more
specific shapes to follow next in this
table).

BUSINESS PROCESS DIAGRAMS

Business Process Diagrams: A diagram that uses graphic
symbols to depict the nature and flow of the steps in a process.

Benefits of Business Process Diagrams

• Promotes understanding of a process
• Identifies problem areas and opportunities for process
improvement
• Depicts customer-supplier relationships
