Visayas was one of the identified regions with increasing number of cases. There were 38 cases reported from January 1 - February 17, 2019 with 15 deaths. Majority (291 r 66.4%) of the cases were from Leyte. Ages range from 1 month to 80 years old | (median: 4 years old). 1 ! Given the above situation, we encourage EVERYONE to participate and observe the ollowing precautionary measures to control the spread of the disease: 1 1 1 I I I 1 1 1 1 | There is an ongoing Measles (Tipdas) transmission in our country and Eastern i 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1. ALL6-59 months (5 years old below) infants and children should have received | ‘one (1) dose measles-containing vaccine (MCV) and Vitamin A supplement. ! However, cl lren who already rece d_at least 2 doses of MCV shall NOT be vaccinated during this campaign. 2. ALL “unvaccinated/incomplete” Grades 1 to 6 pupils and pre-school shall be vaccinated with one (1) doses of MCV. 3, Other age group not mentioned above are advised to observe self- precautionary measures by limiting exposure to crowded places and are to observe proper hygiene (hand washing, cough manners, wearing of mask, etc.) especially if not feeling well (with fever, cough and colds, etc.). Boost immune system through proper diet, exercise and enough sleep. Increase intake o Vitamin C- rich foods and supplements. 4. Early signs of Measles (Tipdas) is fever (high), cough, colds, conjunctivitis (red-watery eyes) and rash, Measles is highly contagious and its complications (pneumonia, diarrhea, ear infection, blindness and encephalitis) are mostly fatal. .
